Car currently has this battery in the boot.
How can I tell its age?
Does it look old or knackered?

Thanks

The connections to the battery look worse than the battery :poke:
Don't think there is way telling how old battery is?
I've had to change batteries that are 2 years old and then seen cars 15 years old on original batteries.
Its more how the battery is used.

While I can't speak for UK etc none US batteries. But on most US batteries there usually is a strip on the battery which has numbers which can be punched / marked to tell the year and month of battery. And yes, this is only good. if marked when battery installed. While it doesn't tell you how long battery sat on store shelf prior to install it gives a estimation of age. Not sure why manufactures don't just stamp build date on them? Now maybe another way to estimate age is to search with the make model on manufacture site which might give a year range when it was built.

I’ve a code coming up indicating low voltage so curious about the battery. Hence my question.
I do however have a usb plug in the cigarette lighter socket in front of the heated seats button. It would appear that it is on even after the car is locked for a long period of time.
Now wondering if the low voltage is due to it.
Going to try some tests later.

Pop it out and see if there is another sticker on it somewhere. Agreed - those connections look bad.

Looking more closely I would be interested to see if you can get the positive connection off?
It almost looks as though someone has peened the terminal over to hold the connector in place!
