How to replace door lock Bowden cable ?

Hi

I really struggled to open my door from the outside in the sun today.

I can't find any write ups how to replace the cable.
Some posts have said you need specialist tools to tension the new Bowden cable.

Has anyone replaced their cable ? And if so, can they give a brief how to description.

Someone else posted the same question on Z Post.com quite a long time ago....no one had an answer to the bowden cable question, good luck. Removing the door handle seems complicated enough!

There's a good youtube video on removing the door card. It was a video for replacing speakers, I will try and find the link for you.

Bringing a very old thread back to life here, but I'm wondering if there was ever a definitive guide created for replacing the bowden cable for the door handle? I'm suffering from the infamous 'door handle not working after being in direct sun/heat' symptoms and want to deal with it before the door handle gets broken.

Thanks

Mine has the same problem when the drivers door is left in the sun.

I replaced the Bowden cable in my last car due to the drivers door handle needing a good hard pull up to open. It was tricky but doable with basic tools. Must say though mine was still the same with the new cable :x

Need to replace my doors, and was hoping to swap the internals over myself, is it possible for an amateur diy’er?

Those videos actually do look quite useful, cheers mr nurburgring. Andy, if the videos suggested are as they appear, it looks to me like something someone who's a bit handy can have a go at, but I can't say first hand yet.

Does anyone know the part number for the bowden cable?

Great, thanks again for that. I'm going to give this a go next time I get some free time (not so easy to come by these days  ).

I'm just having a look at these videos again, and wondering if it's actually the remedy for my symptoms? I've been doing a little more research on here and I've seen experienced forum members describing this job as one of the most difficult and fidgety they've done, yet this video makes it look easy.

Has anyone actually replaced the cable this way to correct their exterior door handle not functioning properly?

Did you ever get your door to open properly? Did you replace the cable? Do you still have the car? (I realize this is a very old thread! haha)
