How to remove mirror plastic triangle on doors

Hi,

My triangles leading to the mirror arms are badly discoloured from black to a milky grey. I want to remove them from the car and the mirrors themselves, so that I can respray them with a matte black paint. Those plastic back to black products offer only a temp solution to bringing back the black, I dont want to be doing that every 2 weeks.

Cheers for any instructions on this. Is it difficult or fairly easy once the steps are known?

If you want to remove the mirrors, you’ll have to take off the door cards to disconnect the electrics. It’s as easy as:

Prise off the tweeter housing
Undo the three screws
Remove door cards
Unplug mirror and remove

You need to know how to remove the door card. It’s quite easy, but there is a technique to follow, and plenty of good guides on here.

It would be quite difficult to remove (and refit ) the black triangle from the mirror unit as it has been plastic welded into place. Best to remove as Zedebee describes then mask off the rest of the mirror, light sanding and spray.

OK, thanks, yes i see its all one piece. masking up it is. cheers. Bought the trim removal tools today.
