How To Eliminate Tobacco Smells?

Hi there

I have just picked up my Z4 05 plate and very pleased with it indeed.
The only thing is that the previous owner was a smoked so there is a faint whiff of tobacco smoke in the car.
I have read about smoke and air con bombs that can help, get rid of the odour so wanted to ask if anyone has used them or can suggest other solutions.
Many thanks

You could make a solution of bicarbonate of soda with water and ideally putting in into a skoosh bottle and then apply over the car wiping with a cloth. It should help remove the smell when it dries. The problem you have is that the smell will be clinging to the seats, floor and roof and only a decent clean will rid you of the smell.

My mum used bicarbonate of soda for everything. It actually works at removing smells especially sick and spilt milk which you think you've removed

I've used them for work purposes on the odd occasion, depending on how strong the smell is they work quite well. You could help get rid of the smell by cleaning as much of the interior as you can as the odour tends to cling to interior parts.Make sure that you follow the instructions.

As above it gets into everything from carpet to underlay, seatbelts to seats. Most things mask the smell rather than removing it.

My success has come from vacuuming it out in every place I can get too, wiping all flat surfaces, but primarily leaving the windows and doors open to just get air through it.

A Ozone generator machine will do a great job. This is what dealers use on trade in cars. A professional model is expensive, so find a place that has one and take your car there to have them do it for you. As an ex-smoker, I'm extra sensitive to smoke, therefore I would never buy a car that the previous owner smoked in, it permeates everything.

Ok I used the Air con bomb from halfords and it worked a treat. Also used an odour eliminating spray on the carpets and cloth interior and seems to have helped.
Trying the bowl of vinegar trick tonight.
Took the new car for it's first long drive today and it was a joy to drive.
Very happy.

I heard coffee beens in the ashtray soaks up the smells and replaces it with a fresh coffee smell.
Haven't tried it myself but if you love coffee it seems like a win win?

There's one sure-fire way but I'm not sure you could live with it...

Alternatively you could take up smoking and you will never notice the smell.
Cigars would probably be most effective
