How to completely reboot iDrive?

It seems when you turn the car off and even lock the doors, the cars iDrive computer remains active for a while. If you then leave it for a while it fully shuts down. If I wanted to completely reboot it, whilst still sat in the car, how do I do this? I know turning the ignition off, pulling the key and locking the doors doesn’t do it, so is there another way?

I don’t want to go into too much detail but I’m trying to make the car reset its Bluetooth connection after the initial connect has failed and it and won’t restart. If I leave the car for a while it works again, indicating the car shuts down further after being left idle.

You could possibly do the 'close display' option and switch off the hi-if but not sure if this will work.

I've found that 99% of the time the Bluetooth issues are caused by the phone and not the car, so maybe reloading the phone software or checking for any version updates might be worth a try.

While the iDrive is on. Push and hold down the volume control on the dash/radio for more than 30 seconds. This will reboot the iDrive.

I know it's my phone causing the issue, but a fix isn’t available at the moment. A piece of software I use occasionally messes up the Bluetooth on my phone. With my previous phone restarting the phone would fix the connection to the car. It seems with my S4 that a failed connect causes something to go wrong with the car, such that a reset of the phone will not get the connection back. After the car has reset it works again, but this usually requires the car to be left for a while, which isn’t always practicable. Hopefully the volume fix will work.

Cheers all.
