How old do you have to get... now with added gruesome pix

By the seaside...
. before you get (slightly) less foolish?

It being Mother's Day, we decided to take pushbikes down't pub to see step-daughter for appropriate lunchtime celebrations...

Unfortunately, on the way back, certain step-father clipped a kerb and ended up unconscious on the pavement with nasty scalp wound and paramedics called - head covered with dressings and wife, who just happens to be a nurse, keeping close eye for next 24 hours in case of concussion

If anyone here feels more stupid than I do please step forward as I'd like to point my wife in your direction...

Cheers, sure I'm going to be fine - just feel like a bit of a pratt ( not for the first time though :D )

Oh dear, I don't think we ever really grow up, I still feel the same, in my head, as I did 20 yrs ago, hope I feel the same in another 20 yrs too :crazydude:

You never grow up (us male anyway) - sometimes you can have the odd flash of being sensible - not very often I'm pleased to say

Unfortunately the legs do get old!

Never too old. :D

Did something similar after 2 pints of cider last summer. Thankfully injury free roll in the grass

Get a crash hat though unless you keep all the foam on the inside :poke:

Cindy called an ambulance but, because we were just around the corner
from home, and being a man and knowing best, I insisted that I was fine
and on getting indoors – I didn’t realise quite what a state I was in… until
my loving wife grabbed me warmly by the throat and showed me... but
it did make things a bit more comfortable while I was getting treated by
the paramedics.

Even though I got knocked out, I managed to avoid a trip to hospital because
Cindy’s a nurse and can keep an eye on me for 24 hours in case of concussion

This was my head after the paramedics cleaned away most of the blood. They
had a discussion with Cindy about it needing stitches but thought that they’d
get away with steri-strips

Cindy changed the dressing before bed as it was soaked in blood but the
new one has become soaked through overnight, so it’s still bleeding and
Cindy may decide that I’ve got to go and get stitches after all (oh, joy!)

Still, as one of the guys on the Register said, it could have been worse...
I could have clipped the kerb in the Alpina

Bloody hell, that looks awful. You definitely got completely checked out right? Head knocks can sometimes take a while longer to kick in. Get well soon mate

So you werent wearing a cycle helmet?

Sorry, but its your own fault.

You do know you can get done for riding a bike whilst over the limit? :poke:

Looks nasty though, hope it heals well.

Dont worry about any scarring, once your hair grows back, it will hide the wound....

Nope, I quite agree, it was my own fault - I was wearing a thick wooly hat that would have prevented the wound but gave it to Cindy to wear under her hat as the cold wind was making her ears ache

 I've been waiting for it to grow back for years
