how much to get lowering springs fitted?

Hi Folks,

I've just bought a set of of Eibach lowering springs off a forum member and am getting quotes to get them fitted.

So far I've had £400+vat and £350+vat. I did get quoted £300 inc. VAT but they won't fit parts they don't supply themselves because of their insurance.

I've never had springs fitted before so just wanted to know if this is the going rate.

NB: I've no practical skills (or tools for that matter) so no point replying with do it yourself.

Thanks

Pav

AutoData says 3.15 hours.

You can multiply that by your garages labour rate to work out where it sits.

I was quoted two hours labour from a few Indies for the fronts which was around £100 to £120. Add another hours labour for the rears I'd imagine. Rears are really easy to do yourself though

Are your quotes simply for fitting, or does that include alignment?
Bearing in mind a lot of places think just tracking the front end qualifies as alignment.

I didn't ask for alignment, but I was wondering if that might be why.

RBM have just quoted me £140+vat. it's just a shame they are 2 hours away from me.

I think the other places are upping the amount of hours needed because they don't know Z4s all that well.

I'd be driving the 2 hours! You know you will get exemplary service there and no corners cut.

A 2 hour drive in your Z4 each way, “before” and “after”, what’s not to like?

I took my Coupe to RBM for a service after I bought it. Ross was good enough to inspect the car. He pointed out that one of my rear springs was installed upside down and then explained to me how to fix it, which I have now done myself. His prices are reasonable and he won’t stitch you up for unnecessary work.

I paid around £1500 all in for the Bilstein B12 Pro Kit, top mounts, uplift of the car and alignment.

I did buy the parts myself so probably about £350 for labour.

Does Ross have alignment kit?
If so, no-brainer. While he had the car in the air he would be properly looking at all the adjustment points at the same time to save himself pain later.
If you got the springs fitted somewhere, then went elsewhere for alignment, you run the risk that they'll need to free off a lot of bolts etc to get it aligned, pushing up the costs and with the added risk of shearing something.

I am coming round to the idea of doing a long trip once or twice a year to have RBM look after the car.

I actually found somewhere nearby (10 min train journey) that I can rent a desk so I don't have to take a day off work: https://desklodge.com/basingstoke-coworking-office-space

Where abouts are you based?

Aww, shame you aren’t a little closer. I’m just off junction 31 of the M1 and have lowered a few z4’s now. I recon I’d have it done in less then an hour and a half. You’d have been welcome to come over and id have done it for a few beer tokens.
