How much oil?

I had an alert this week that my engine oil is at minimum level.

How much oil does it take to top this up properly?

Don’t know what oil is currently in there, does it matter if I use a different brand?
 
You don’t say which engine you have but I think it’s 1 litre to take it to max, any brand should be ok, it’s the specification that’s important.
 
Check the oil level a couple of times before you top up ..sometimes it reads low..if you then put a full litre in then you get the over full message which is not good on these engines…

Personally I put half a litre in and check then puts bit more info required..

Normally N20 engines 18i 20 28i don’t burn oil between services so a litre for those is quite a lot..

When was the last oil change miles wise?
