How much is my Zed worth?

Coming up to selling my Z4 and would appreciate your input on how much I should ask.

I'll add some more pictures later but here's the lowdown.

2006 3.0Si SE manual
Owned by me since August 2013
76k miles FBMWSH and still under zero excess BMW Insured Warranty
Previous owners is officially 6 I believe. However due to personal circumstance it switched from the previous owner to his wife (now ex) then back to him. The first owner was BMW too. So in reality I'm the 4th real owner.
6k until oil service, the big one (Inspection 2) done last time.
Silver Grey
4 very good tyres (Hankook Ventus Evo). Non run flat which renewed my love for the car when I put them on.

Can't remember what's standard or not anymore so I'll list the interesting stuff.
5 spoke composite alloys and fully electric heated sport seats so the only difference to a Sport is suspension, the gear knob and steering wheel.
Boot spoiler
Wind deflector
Cruise
Multifunction steering wheel
Sat Nav
Bluetooth phone
10 speaker (Carver?) stereo with DSP. Head unit and changer are MP3 compatible.
Rear parking sensors
Remote roof open and close with the lock/unlock buttons (Gaptech module I think)
Cup holders ;-)
Previous owner Stu (Stug on the forum) upgraded to Xenon lights which are nice.
I added aux input.

It also has/had illuminated kick plates but only the passenger side works, so it'll still impresses your passengers :-)

In very good condition with only a couple of minor marks. Wheels aren't perfect as with most composite wheels. They've never been refurbished and still look good enough in my opinion when cleaned. Importantly there are no curb marks or damage.

It's been 100% reliable. I've had new front fogs under warranty and there was a problem with the rear light staying on which was solved with a new section of loom. I also upgraded the battery to a chunky Bosch item when the original gave out last year.

I'll add more if I can think of anything.

It sounds like a tidy z.If you can wait until the end of March to sell then ask £8000 ono.Their are some cheap ones out there usually needing work.Anybody looking for a decent one will pay that bit extra.

Agree with maxman, ask for 8ish & prepare for offers of 7.5/7.7k, it's a lot of car for the money.
Regards

Just called this guy. Untrustworthy shady character. Real in your face attitude and defensive when pushed on basic questions. At the end of the call, he finally gives up that there is heavy vibration under braking even after telling me it drives perfectly for 10 mins. Felt more like an arguement just trying ask simple questions. Experience tells me this kind of attitude often reveals that there are more issues than are being admitted to. I will not be purchasing this one thats for sure.

:D "Real shady character , Real in your face attitude " surprised you didn't get on like a house fire ! :P
" Ballzdeep" kind of says it all if that's the best clue to yourself you have
Ive sold a good few motors & never surprised by the attitide of some callers who tell me how my car is & how much its worth due to blah blah & they haven't even viewed it
Truth is pal you are buying a 10 yr old used car most likely having 3,4,5 owners with 70-100k covered
There's gonna be issues to fettle so take that on board or head down to your BMW dealer & drive one away with a warranty for £12k

Thanks for your intelligent input lol. Real useful comments ;)

Just followed your lead  ripping into a guy on his own sale post is bad form mate whether you are a newbie or a regular , its just your interpretation of a conversation . If you had at least viewed + driven the car then perhaps you would have some credibility in offering your wisdom to warn others :|

Really unfair.

For anyone who is interested. The call ended when I mentioned I had to take my private plate off (because it sounded like Preston was lining up a purchase) and Preston hung up. I think he's in a hurry to buy. Let's bear in mind here the car is not officially for sale...this is a value finding thread but I've had quite a bit of interest so have indulged the callers because I probably will sell.

I didn't say "heavy vibration". I said an occasional vibration at moderate braking (not heavy or light braking) which I had previously put down to pad material adhering to the disc because it ceases after a heavy application of the brakes. I asked my garage at MOT time to check it out but they said there was nothing wrong with the brakes. I was just being honest when you asked "is there anything I'm not going to like if I view the car?" because one way or another somebody was going to have to do a bit of travelling. I also told you about the wear on the interior of the hood and the small mark where my son dropped his scooter on the wheelarch for the same reason.

If I was a shady character I'd have not told you anything about it. The chances are the braking issue probably wouldn't show on a test drive and you may not have noticed the wear on the hood.

Another point to note is that I didn't "tell you for ten minutes" the car drives perfectly (it does bar the above occasional issue). The call was 22 minutes of me answering questions. I also felt it was good natured until you hung up on me muttering something so I'm really surprised by your entry in this thread.

Anyway, Preston wanted me to bring the car to him in Bristol (because I had stated I drive between Porthcawl and Southampton so this was an option) and I told him it wasn't convenient for a week or so, this probably contributed to his mood also.

So thanks for trashing my thread, anyone else that is interested I suggest when the car goes on sale you view it and meet me in person.

Finally Preston, well done for sticking out 22m40s of "in your face, defensive attitude" that "felt like an argument" with this "shady character". I think most of us would have finished things at 2 minutes.

There was no need to post that Ballz, im sorry but there's always two sides to every story and we don't know what actually was said. I think it's unfair and unprofessional. Glwts good looking car.

+1

selling a car can be an unpleasant experience - if you part ex it you get a lot less but at least it's hassle free - if it's a private sale you get nearer what it's worth but usually have to put up with time wasters or similar - hang in there and hopefully a genuine purchaser will come along if and when you decide to sell.

Can't remember the last car I've actually traded in - I've always been honest with the description so that if a prospective buyer takes the trouble and effort to turn up they won't be disappointed and I've always tried to be polite and patient with enquirers even though this at times can be so frustrating :x

and yes ............ £8k seems about right

Thanks to you open minded guys that have posted some balance here.

In the end, I've been 100% honest about a car that is fundamentally superb and mentioned the few % that is bad to prevent disappointment after a long journey either for myself or a prospective purchaser.

These aren't things I was trying to hide, they are things to be demonstrated and discussed at a viewing.

Constructing an advert is difficult, some people like the honesty. Others just presume revealing some warts means there are many more being hidden, perhaps a reflection of their own attitude.

Full BMW service history and always been under a zero excess BMW insured warranty. Why would I spend £44 a month to hide things in a shady manner?

I would not be put off by Ballz comment if I was looking to buy the car. If anything following Ben's follow up response I'd be more likely to take a look at the car. I don't like to take sides but I think posting such a comment on a person's topic says a lot about someone, seems a bit spiteful to me.

Here's a thought....

Ben Cole has the same surname as and may even be related to the late George Cole.

George Cole played Arthur Daley.

Arthur Daley sold used cars.

Therefore Ben Cole must be a dodgy used car salesman on here to stitch someone up by selling a lemon to get a nice little earner for er indoors.

Hope the car sells Ben as it needs very little work done by the sounds of it.

Reading this thread for the first time, I think it's turned out in your favour Ben. Selling privately can be a nightmare. GLWTS
