Hi all rang local stealer- because im due to paint my calipers im after a spare key(just in case)-quoted over £10!-i know i sound a tight git but a couple of years ago i bought a spare for my e46 for £4,-"i know they have more than doubled in price over the last couple of years "i was told-not impressed

I also remember buying one for my E46 and it being "about £4". I've also bought a spare for my MC and I remember it being about double, and although the receipt is about 18 inches away I can't quite be bothered to look it up.

Count yourself lucky though, I investigated buying one for my Honda and you can't. You must instead buy a new set of locking wheel nuts. Price to you sir, £50. So I ditched them and put the regular wheel nuts on.

I always thought £4 was far too cheap anyway and I remember thinking they'd mispriced it at the time. £10 feels about right to me, and it's a small price to pay compared to losing your only key and then having to hammer a socket on to get the old ones off and trashing them in the process. Like I had to on an MX-5 some years ago.

Pay up and just chalk it up as another aspect of BMW ownership I say!
