How long should the cooling fan run after switch off?

Just been for a short run in the car and noticed the cooling fan ran for quite a while (at least 2 minutes) after turning off the ignition. Must admit I haven't driven it a lot lately but can't say I have ever noticed it before. Normal?

Yep fairly normal on most cars. My coupe does it if I've been driving in a more spirited fashion. My sisters Volvo c70 does it all the time even if you move the car out of the drive.
