How do I tell if I have the correct springs fitted (yellow mark) pic

My car: as in my signature should have "M" tech suspension (as one of it's options). It sits slightly higher than my sons 3.0 lt auto 2004 (now sold).
When I bought the car he mentioned that it had a spring replaced a while ago.
All I can see is a yellow dab, what does this mean.

Just checked mine as it has the sport suspension fitted. Both rear springs have a blue mark on them if that helps.

Thanks everyone, with sports spring (blue) what is the measurement from arch to ground. If someone could measure I would be greatfull, if I need to get the correct (M tech) springs is the dealer the best place and rough idea of price.
Are they easy to change?

Dealers will sting in price, I'm sure I've seen suplex (if that's how you spell it) do an oe sports spring. Apparently they are easy to do with not much other than a couple of bolts the bottom of the shock.

I've just checked the others and they all look much dirtier, on those three I can't see any paint. The one with yellow paint looks very new compared to the others. I will remove the rear pair and measure, I think that's my first option.

Have a read of this

Download the pdf that will give you the part numbers you require

You can tell just by looking at your sig photo that it doesn't have sport springs fitted on the rear.

Mine also have blue paint on them, M Sport suspension from factory. Noticed on the top of them there is also a sturdy paper/plastic tab wrapped around spring with the part number on it, do yours have this for comparison?

I fitted suplex about 18 months ago.
Had no issues since, they are sports springs although they do standard also .
If I remember rightly they were around £65 each.

It may be that I have one new (yellow) incorrect spring fitted and one original M tech. The roll bar will even any height difference out.

I notice on ECP that it does list a Sachs spring for my car as "for vehicles with M-technology". However it says out of stock.

Called Euro today, they have one only M tec spring in stock in the country. It's being sent to my depot from Ipswich.
£65 plus vat. I don't have to buy it but it will be there if I need it.
BMW want £120 plus vat.

The anti roll bar wouldn't make much, if any difference to the ride height. Looking at your pic, is the new spring on the NSR? If so, is the gap between arch & tyre the same on both rear sides?

Mike

I think the roll bar will even out any height difference, the high side will pull the low side up and in doing so will pull itself down, the roll bar will be torsionally tight and not neutral as it should be.
The new (yellow) spring is on the drivers (O/S). I need both springs off to measure them. It would be good to know the height of a M tec and non M tec spring.
It must be out there.

It counts as a modification for insurance and means more labour to replace the fronts. Rears are dead easy by comparison. I'm getting my rear springs replaced tomorrow with some Suplex ones. The motor factors that have ordered them in for me have quoted £25 each! Now I'm prepared to pay more if they've made a mistake but it was the right part number over the phone. Will find out in the morning if I truly am getting a bargain. Fitting will be no more than £45.
