How do I get to the rear upper shock mounts?

Help please!

I need to get to one of to replace a knackered bump stop and damper tube. Getting the carpet out of the way is proving enough of a pain. But the upper shock mounts sits just under the mechanism that gives a little extra luggage room when the roof is up. I can't see how to get that out.

Please tell me the entire roof doesn't need to come off!

Not sure, but there are 4 clips that hold the shelf in place, if you remove these and the shelf you should be able to see what's what. Have a look at Shipkiller's roof removal guide to see how to remove the shelf.

Good luck

It's not too heavy ...

... you see the turnable knobs left and right. Along the roof-box left and right you will find clips. press they to the top out off the box.

Now you are able to unmount the hinge - you have to unclip it.

Take out the roof-box out of the trunk but look at the microswitch in the middle of the back of the trunk.

Now you can unmount the torx and the 6-(whatever in englisch) at the back of the trunk.
Pull out the clip on the top of the trim with the knob.

Now you can pull out the trim and you will see the upper shock mount.

just 15 minuten to du this.

Right, I have finally got stuck into this, but I'm not getting very far.

I have released the clips to separate the hinge from the hood shelf. I have undone the hex bolt and the torx fastener and even pulled the knob right out, to completely release the hinge. The plastic trim is certainly a lot more loose now but it still isn't coming. Feels like it is sticking near the little dome over the end damper.

Don't want to snap anything overdoing things, or do I just need to be a bit braver?

Thanks

I havent trioed thius myself, but reports Ive seen of people doing this suggest you need to be braver. Its apparently quite tight.
