how do I check my PDC sensors work...

ok, not as simple as just saying reverse near something and see if it beeps lol!

basically my car originally came with the sensors from factory... the previous owner changed the bumper for some reason to a bumper with no PDC holes so they are currently taped together behind the bumper...
i have since purchased a new //M rear bumper with PDC holes already in it.

so before i get the new bumper sprayed i want to try and get hold of 4 x alpine white sensor covers (or blank 1`s and get them sprayed same time as i get bumper/skirts sprayed) and make sure the sensors actually work.

at the moment when i select reverse i get a 3 second long beep and then it stops and doesnt beep anymore even if i select reverse again(only beeps the 1st time reverse is selected after engine start)

whats the best way to test them and see if all 4 sensors still work ?

thanks

Have you got the bumper off and untaped the pdc's

kind of, ive had the bumper off and i need to replace the rear crash bar this weekend, so im gonna have a go when the bumpers off and tape the sensors to crash bar to try test them, but wondered if there was any other methods etc before i tried myself?

There is a wealth of knowledge on here and I'm sure someone better equipped than me will have an answer for you

ok just checked old pictures i took last time i had bumper off and i have 4 ends that look like this, so it looks like i need to actually buy 4 sensors to go on the end :headbang:

wheres the best place to get them, anybody got any on here they no longer need/use?

I was about to say, I'm looking at retrofitting and there are plenty of cheaper items on eBay or from the US rather than buying the £££ ones from Beemer.

Put the car into reverse with the ignition on have a listen to each individual sensor if they are clicking they are working  all of them must make a sound for the whole system to work

so key in ignition, turn to 1st position to turn electrics on... select reverse and then walk rnd back of car and each individual sensor will continuously click if i hold it up to my ear?

also as suggested above, is there any direct replacements for the sensors other than OEM BMW sensors, i dont want to buy some if there a diff size/fitments but also don't fancy paying full BMW price unless i can source some 2nd hand sensors
