Sensor £32 from GSF there is one in Lincoln

If you remove the undertray you can put the new sensor on the loom and dip it in boiling water to run the fan before you drop a load of coolant on the floor changing it

Or warm it up with a small gas torch

Boiling water is safer

But if the high set point is 105deg you will not get water hot enough in Lincoln
 
Thanks for the input guys. Its been an interesting project so far. Learning a lot about the car from Bigwynn. Once this little gremlin is sorted the resto is should be almost finished.

Electric fan
Under certain operating conditions, the engine control activates the electric fan at various speeds.

The electric fan is activated by means of a power output stage directly on the fan motor. The motor control unit activates this power output stage by means of a square-wave signal with duty factors (variable pulse width) between 10 and 90 %, thus controlling the various speeds of the electric fan. Pulse duty factors less than 5 % and greater than 95 % do not trigger activation but rather they are used for fault detection purposes. The power output stage features its own positive and ground supply.

The fan speed is influenced by the coolant temperature at the radiator outlet and the pressure in the air conditioning system. The fan speed is reduced as the vehicle speed increases.
 
Well so far (touch wood)

The new expansion tank has not split
We swapped the sensor at the bottom of the rad hose and tested the fan with INPA which worked this time

So- I think, problem solved

I checked several times

Less haste more speed
