To be completely honest, I am shiting myself!

Going to get my tonsils removed in a couple of hours! Any got any advice for me? Going to be put to sleep - hopefully I'll wake back up..

Should have got this done when I was younger :headbang:

Just don't panic mate... and remember that thousands of people before you have gone through the same procedure (and worse) and are fine. Just try to relax, let the docs do their work, and then look forward to putting it behind you.

You'll be fine fella :)

... oh.. and don't shit yourself, that'll just make the whole thing more unpleasant for all ;)

Hope it goes better than my recent op, only meant to be back at work 2-3 days after having torn cartilage removed, was off work for 3 weeks in the end and still only getting better slowly.

Got some nice pics to remember it by though. :D

Bet the General was none too pleased.

I kinda like trying to resist GA. Its a bit like trying not to fall asleep when really really drunk.

Had it twice and was fine. Funny thing was when I came around the first thing I thought was "must look tough infront of those nurses and pretend I've come out of anaesthetic straight away". I'm sure nurses were giggling to themselves at men's stupidity

Never had an op unitl five weeks ago, GA was fine felt a slight tingle as the nurse shot her load (stop it) and she reminded me to breath, I remember breating in and out twice, and next thing I remember waking up.

Anyway Sir Simon how did it go?

I went in for wisdom teeth out years ago... woke up and the nurse was called Mandy ("randy Mandy", in my mind)... she was soooo hot and had boobs and everything!!! (I was 14!)... Anyway, I thought I was tough and decided to stand up to go to the bathroom (against her advice)... fell flat on my arse! LOL

... anyway... let us know how it went, SirSimon :D

Advice?
Firstly, ensure that Chilli (or similar) is NOT on the menu for a day or two after your triumphant return from the Hospital.
Secondly (and most importantly!), ensure that you are lying the right way round on the trolley. Otherwise, you may still have a sore throat, but the lack of gonads will take your mind off it!!!

Seriously, by the time you get this, it will all be over and you will be worrying what all the trouble was about. Easy to say, i know, but take it from a bloke who has been under the knife a few times now :)

Hope it went well - I remember when I had my appendix out, being put under then waking up again immediately saying "I can't go in it hurts too much!" - nurses just treated me like the cretin I was, cos of course it was all done and dusted.

Then during the night I was in such pain, I let a really attractive nurse roll me over and shove a painkiller suppository up my jacksie without a murmer (well she might have groaned a bit, I don't know LOL)...such a shame because any other time I might have enjoyed the experience!!!!!

I am in on monday for a nose job (septoplasty and inferior turbinates) youtube it and see if you dare, cant say im looking forward to this as my 1st operation either :(
maybe i shouldnt have watched the vids...........

it will be nice to be able to eventually breathe through both nostrils though
Sainsburys will be chocka full of decongestant spray on the shelves soon if you need any :D

I am alive! Completely dying though! I've had water and two yogurts since Thursday!

Such a mad experience going to sleep, I remember saying, "wow" when feeling it go through you body!

After I woke up after the operation, for some reason when the nurse said do you want a drink, I said Vodka and Redbull

I had my wisdom tooth removed under general last year. Not soon after they put the needle in my hand, I woke up in the recovery room. It was like the procedure was completed in seconds.

It's pretty bad that your semi-subconsious mind went in for Alcamahol straight of the bat... lol

but glad it all went well for you :) - I HATE hospitals.....

Don't worry mate, I've been under for major stuff 3 times, the worst part is that your stomach doesn't "wake up" right away so you have to be REALLY careful what you eat afterwards. (or you'll see it again very soon).
The last time I was in, my nurse didn't have a clue what was going on, gave me a full hot meal as soon as I woke up. After they cleaned up (me, the room, etc) the regular nurse had a fit. I think she may have strangled the other one 'coz I never saw her again, hmmm?

On the brighter side, you'll get to eat ice cream and Jello

PS: My last time was two neurosurgeons for 5 hours, fusing my neck. Damn that Z3 and the rough ride.
