Honestly

The Z4 is (obviously) pretty nice. But I agree with enfield. I mean we're pretty much just driving bottom of the line BMW's. :D

Agreed. The Z4, its just another BMW  ....However, it is a unique BMW model in itself, from its development, design, and to its production. Someday, and I really mean someday, it may get the recognition that it truly deserves. Also, don't you love it when a car looks like no other.... :D ...(just like the AMC Pacer, or the Delorean...LOL). Nowadays, when driving, I have noticed that all the cars are looking too much alike, and one can not tell the difference from the other. Is it American?, is it European? or is it Japanese?, Korean? etc. etc....

Anyways, as I have been told by some know-it-all offspring of mine..."the Z4 is not an "exotic" :( , So, I guess from ones "point of view", owning an exotic, puts you on top of the food chain? hahaha....

As for the BMW earlier M series, what can I say, very nice cars... In my opinion, the true, true, pure "M", was the "e30" & maybe the "e36" LTW. The previous (e46), as well as the upcoming BMW (e92) "M" line have de-evolved from a "TRUE" Motorsports car, to a car that is very much smiliar to others. Built, to just keep pace with the general puclic and the other competing automotive manufacturers. However, the "M" Coupe/ Roadster, within the BMW Community, they are in a class
in itself. I personally think them better cars overall, than the e92 "M")....

Also, what I find interesting is that the other car companies are beginning to share the concept of naming their particular car models with just "numbers" and "letters". There is the....M45, G35, FX35, MDX, RDX, G8, G6, RS4, TT, R32....so forth and so on....(sounds too much like acyronyms for various types of military aircraft to me). What ever happened to the old days...

All in all, and in the end, all cars are still made of glass, plastic, rubber & steel, etc. etc...with a name plate that governs the price...

and that's my 3 cents... :D...Proud to be an owner of a "Z" Roadster....(not be confused with the original Datsun 240Z)...lol

Honestly, I love this car.
This car = therapy.
Took it up to Lake Mead tonight after work (had a bad day and driving helps me relax...kinda ironic with how fast I drive) and generally kept the car around 80mph. No traffic, not a single soul around. Just me, the moon, and the road. Very peaceful. Maybe in the summer I will do a topless "slow" drive. Probably on a full moon night. Preferably with a hot girl in the passenger seat.

z4 great car, enjoy it after all you bought it, and it is unique not looking like anything else on the road, i wonder what ferrari blogs are saying,,,,,,'gee i wish i had a hyundai'

I agree with you guys, there are of course better cars out there than the Z4. But for the money??

And yes, the 335 is a damn fine car. And yes, I'd much rather drive a Z4M than my current 2.0i.

So then why is it that my neighbours who drive 330d, 530 and X5 3.0i Sport all drool over my little bottom of the line Z4? Heck, even him down the road with the new S500 looks at it every time he drives past. Another, with a black M6 Coupe sat in my Zed when I got her last May and declared he wished he went for the Z4M Coupe and saved himself some money! Even parked up in the local dealers last month a couple were peering through the windows of my dirty Zed!

Its because we have something a little different, a little daring. Who wouldn't love a 2 seater sports car?

A case of style over substance?
