If you want the best roads in the country head to Scotland
If you want good roads and scenery and the area a bit more compact The Lake District is the answer :driving:

Ever been to Northumberland? Check out the coast and castles, Hadrian's Wall - bonus - fabulous roads and relatively quiet too . . . . .

:driving:

Shushhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The North East is indeed beautiful and well worth consideration. Berwick on Tweed is one of my fave places as is North Berwick a bit further north into Scotland - just south of Edinburgh.

The Gower Peninsular and around that area of South Wales is stunning too with some great roads, mostly very quiet as not a lot of tourists get that far. Even in mid summer it's pretty quiet. I was down that way last week not far from Cardigan, staying with friends in one of the two holiday caravans they own down there.

Being a biker, I'm guessing you've done Scotland to death? The Yorkshire Dales is also great for driving as are parts of Lincs and Lancs. There are some superb places in the UK if you take the time to search them out - Whitby is great fun, if you get over that way take a drive to neighbouring Staithes, it's a great little place with a nice harbour.

Just drive and discover - some shots to whet your appetite. :)

South Wales

Whitby

Lancashire

Wensleydale Yorkshire

Thanks for the replies guys but i live in Yorkshire just around the corner from a few recomendations, i should have said can any one recommend good hotels,i have done Scotland to death on the bike, i want the quite roads and cheap hotels if possible :D , thanks anyway

Well decided on Scotland Fort William to be precise, arriving on the 13th for a week so looking forward to it, anyone recommend any where for a good day while were there

Well any other time of year I would recommend Devon & Cornwall. But the secrets been out for a while and you can't move on the main routes here now until Sept We keep the best roads quite for us local scousers.

I live in Fort William area so search my posts and I tell about the best roads around here. Is it just driving you want to do or other stuff as well?

Hi Barney,

If you are up for a good drive I would have a few nights in Fort William and then a couple in Skye. The journey to and from is a cracker and Skye is good as well. If you like walking / climbing then loads to do. The ice climbing (normal climbing walls as well) centre is in Kinlochleven which is a good drive as well. Jungelist calls it the Kinlochleven "ring" as you can do laps around Kinlochleven and Glencoe. South is Oban which is a good drive and some really good seafood either from the pier or some good restaurants on the way as well. Mallaig is a great run and because most tourists want to take the Harry Potter train the road is usually quite quiet and thanks to European grant money is a great road! Go across to Newtonmore, Aviemore is another option which is a great road and there is stuff to do out there as well. Look on web.

Digs in FortWilliam there are loads of B&B and the Ben Nevis Hotel is good as well. Have a look on the web pick somewhere and then I can let you know if it's ok or not. Usual tourist stuff in boats on the Loch etc.

As long as you get the weather it's an amazing place. I am on holiday the week after you but should be in the area when you are up so give me a shout and we go for a hoon! :driving:

Cheers Alfa
We are staying at The Caledonian Hotel, been a few times on my motorcycle but first time in the Zed, really looking forward to it, we arrive on the 13th and are staying till the 17th so have plenty of time to do a few runs
