Off to Portugal on Wednesday. Trying to pack for Ryanair is always interesting. Taking the DSLR. So there goes one whole carry on. Landing at porto and driving to Baleal near peniche. Then on to Sagres in the far South West. Been wanting to try a few 10 stop ND filter shots on a rocky shore and fly my stunt kites on the beach. 8) Just hope the weather holds out. Other wise it's hit the hot tub and open the wine bottles.

Oh have a fabulous time, don't forget that Ryan Air now charges you for the oxygen you breath :D

Ah amazing.
I love Portugal - I'm very fortunate that my parent's have a place in Luz, beautiful beach and nice and quiet, but 10 min drive from Lagos to go out.

Sagres, and anything out towards the west coast is stunning.

Have a great time,
Si

Oakandacorns, Packing went fine. We each have a Ryan air approved carry on. and one checked bag (50 Euro). We have flown Ryan air a few times. And to be fair. We have never had a problem. We just realize and except that it's not the same as BA or Lufthansa. Which always seems to be the main compliant on review sites. Everyone always harps about how Ryan doesn't treat you as well as those other companies. They seem to forget that Ryan only charges about 25% of what the other do. Our 2 round trip tickets from Frankfurt to Porto with one checked bag, And a Hertz car hire for the week. Came to 280 quid. The next cheapest air fare was 250 quid per person. For that kind of savings they are welcome to herd me aboard like a sheep.

It's just that with all the photo gear. I worry about the bag "looking" too full. Then having to run the Ryan air gauntlet of baggage inspection. I just don't want my camera gear to go under the deck to be tossed about by the baggage handlers like the old Samsonite gorilla adverts.
