If you go anywhere near Stirling Then the castle there is a must do.

And despite appearances of the visitor centre at the Wallace Monument, it's free to walk up the hill. You only pay to take their little bus or to go inside the monument at the top.

We will land in Edinburgh late Saturday. Spend the night. Then head north to Balmoral castle and on to Inverness for the night. Then off to Cawdor and the near by battle field. Can't remember the name. I believe Nosa mentioned something about the Brits handing the Scots their arse's at that field. And then off towards Urquhart, Eilean Donan, Talisker Distillery on Skye, Dunvegan. That's a long day though and may have to stay on Skye. Fort Williams for two-three days. We will make a day trip to Mull. Then head to Invarary on our way for a night in Alexandria. Then head to Edinburgh with a stop at Falkirk wheel, Doune, Stirling. Will spend two days in Edinburgh and return to Frankfurt.
Would it be way to touristy to buy a cheap kilt? Is that going overboard? My German neighbor said I should. But she also said no unter hosen when you wear it. Of course I told her that won't happen. As I would constantly be tripping myself. Wink, Wink. Nudge, Nudge. She just laughed and rolled her eyes.

Park up in Oban and let the tour company do the rest. It's honestly not worth taking a car over there as the roads are pretty rubbish. Fingal's Cave (on Staffa) is worth the trip on its own!
One more question about Scotland. As we will be there from 21-28 April. Would it be absolutely mandatory to reserve hotels/B&B's? Or are we far enough ahead of the main tourist season to fly by the seat of our pants. I fear we are trying to fit to much in and may need to make an impromptu change in over night accommodations or itinerary.
