Hit and run, gutted!

Maybe a little overly dramatic, came out of my girlfriends house (car parked on the road) and found my passenger mirror smashed to bits, hanging off.

Don't know if it was kids but only the road side was done and I presume it takes a lot of force so putting it down to a car/van.

I need to use my car this week and won't have chance to replace it until next weekend at the earliest. What's the easiest way to remove the broken mirror? Can I just snip the wires and be done with it or will that cause me all sorts of headaches when replacing it?

Is anyone selling a sterling grey passenger mirror?

Sorry to hear that, what a pain. Can't say I've taken the zed apart, but previous cars I've had the pleasure of swearing at to fix have had connectors either behind the tweeter covers, or slightly further down the door; requiring door card removal. I'm sure many on here will be able to elaborate.

So if I was doing it, I'd find the connector to the loom. Otherwise you will be using scotch blocks or solder and tape for the new wiring.

You need to take the tweeter off to get at the wires. I honestly can't remember if you then need to take the door card off but I don't think so, think you need to just pull the rubber gasket away from the door frame. There are connectors that you can undo, and the screws - could be hex - for taking the mirror off. I wouldn't cut the wires, but a replacement mirror should come with the wires attached. I am not sure I took any photos when I had my door apart, but I will have a look.

Right, I don't think you need to take the door card off. Just pull the top of the tweeter off and ease it off the two other clips. You should be able to do the rest from there.

Thanks for the help both! Hopefully it won't be too hard in the dark, I've got work at 6:30 and don't want to be driving with it bouncing around on my door. The missus had to hold it on the way back from hers

I needed to take the door card off to unclip the wires when i replaced mine after the same issue

Nothing a few ounces of C4 wouldn't cure though you would have to replace the window, door skin and pick up a neaty amputated offending leg... :evil:

Yes! Couple of years ago I had both mirrors kicked off my Peugeot, another day had the grille and fog kicked, and then another night someone thought it clever to jump off the high pavement alongside the paragon and run across the cars - see you later roof panel.

The zed now lives tucked up on a drive up Lansdown way!

No damage to the car and the mirror casing is fine too so thinking about getting one from the breakers (can I get any colour and replace the casing?).

It's the connection between the triangle mounting plate and the mirror that's snapped. And the glass is obviously in bits.

I've taken the mirror off for the time being and put the mounting plate back one to keep the water out. Worst case scenario it's £200 from the stealers.
