Highest mileage Z4?

Eh, the E85 Z4 interior is lovely.

I don't get what part specifically isn't nice?

The dash top material is soft touch plasticy rubber, leather wheel/seats, proper aluminium etc etc...

The design is wonderful. Non-cluttered and clean.

A focus has clearly been made on low weight and cost (good things) over a heavy thud on closing the door.


You can only wonder what kind of people complained at the noise the door made on the E85, and that is exactly why that isn't their kind of car, and why the E89 is the way it is.

Lets just hope BMW make a decent drivers sports car in the shape of a Z2 or something... only downside is it'll all be dull turbo 4 cylinder engines no doubt :(


Gah, just gah. I'll be keeping my E85 forever. BMW for now, have pretty much lost the plot!

At an average speed of 60mph that means you (plus any other owners) spent a total of nearly 6 months of your life sitting in the zed :thumbsup:

as the average speed according to the comp on ours is nearly 32mph

it is likely more than a year

edit - 66 weeks at 16 hrs a day
 
You're right about likely average. But I didn't want the inevitable comments to say that 30mph average means that you drive "miss daisy" style :lol:

Really? Do people care what the door sounds like when it closes?! Oh dear.

I'd rather have the weight saving than the extra insulation. Hence why I can safely say I won't be buying an E89 cruiser.
 
BMW build good solid and robust cars. They are pioneers in engine manufacturing, always wining awards. This also reflects the engines durability. And transmissions are pretty much bomb proof!

I used to own a 2,8 Z3 (100K) which with its new owner now- has covered 160K, and no problems! Some of my freinds with japanese cars with mileage at around 80K have a fair few engine problems. With the inflated price of japanese car parts. I will be staying in the Bavarian stables :thumbsup:
 
I love the way my coupé sounds! Reminds me of my dad's old Porsche 993 when I was a kid! Nice mechanical clunk imo :D. Although most modern cars sounds nice when the door shuts I kinda prefer a more mechanical sound (may be due to me being a mechanical engineer tbh lol).

It wouldn't surprise me if they start putting soft close on the E89 facelift model... just to add another 25kg or so but make drivers enjoy the super silent door action :D

I know we've gone off topic here a bit but my e85 2.5 is clocking 125k at the moment, but it still drives as smooth as anything :)

The last time I saw Alpina Roadster #156 up for sale was October 2012 and it was being advertised with 168,000 on the clock :o
 
My 2004 2.2 Roadster has covered 123,500 and it still goes really well, no oil needed between services and just lately only rear brake pads and discs and front suspension bushes needed.
Averages around 33 mpg on mostly short runs. Hopefully good for another 50K.
 
Yep, mine is on 110,000 miles now and still feels fresh enough. It has a few jobs that need doing but it feels as solid as it did at 60,000 miles when I got it, and as good as 25,000 mile ones I'd experienced before that...

Solid cars. Just look after them and they should last a long time. My only long term worry is that I want to keep it a while but under-body corrosion might start becoming an issue. Really tempted to get under it with a pressure washer and de-greaser and give it a really good clean down, dry down, and then waxoyl everywhere etc...

It's fine cleaning up top but it's the underneath that will be the problem in the long term. Outside can always be re-sprayed, re-upholstered or whatever else...
