I regularly trawl the usual 'for sale' sites to see what's what in the Z4 world and spotted something interesting. BCA have listed an E86 with 191,459 miles!

The reg number is FY07LZP. Get yourself down to Blackbushe tomorrow if you're interested!

Is this the highest mileage E86 N52 ever? And doesn't it just prove what a great engine it is! :)

Mine's done 105k and I do 3k a year... so I reckon I've got at least 30 years of use left on that basis!

Wow, that's impressive - mine isn't half-way there!

And although the N52 in my 325i has done 136K, it's still running fine.

Well in view of the apparent lack of interest in this forum car:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=109986

I can't see the BCA one fetching much more than £4,000.

But it'll be interesting to see the result!

I had a look after the auction, but BCA don't publish their results.

A few days later I was chatting to a mate who is registered with BCA - he said he could have found out what it made if I had told him in advance and he could have watched it live.

Anyway, this is where it has ended up:-

Strange it's taken a month and a half to go on sale.

A nice example in a lot of ways. It's got a lot of the desirable options.

You'd have to be braver than me to buy this one, but it's good to see proof that the N52 is capable of high miles if looked after

Well I haven't looked lately, so it may have been up for sale a while to be fair.

I wouldn't be brave enough for this one either - the one with 160K that someone couldn't sell on here for £4,000 would have been a better option!

But this one does seem to have some desirable options - including the very rare Cirrus aluminium trim!

I have a daily look on the usual for sale sites (I don't know why I do it!) and I only saw this one pop up in the last day or two. But curiously the date in the AT web address suggests it's been on since 24th November. :scratchhead:

Thought you might like that one! I think you and Firebobby are the champions of your trim's on this forum!

I've seen over the years on the US centric forums various E9X 3 series with this engine with mileages well into the 200k's (no doubt some are now into the 300s) without any major issues. Just shows you what they're capable of if looked after. For me the N52 is probably the best of all the various N series engines when it comes to longevity/reliability. I know it has its weak points such as the water pump etc but in the grand scheme of things compared to the issues you get with some of the other N series stuff they're pretty good.

There was someone on here that has a 250+K car, it was based in the states. Unfortunately it got written off I think.

Yeah, i think the engines more than capable of over 300k, with half decent maintenance. But id love to know how many clutchs and waterpumps they had and when lol
