High speed clunk on changing gear

I have done a search, but all of the clunk threads seem to be low speed or forward to backward.

My roadster seems to clunk from the rear end on changing gear at high speed, like 60 mph, 4th to 5th etc.

Anyone have any ideas?

Mine developed this a couple of years ago and gradually got worse. The eventual diagnosis was a loose input shaft to the gearbox which led to a replacement box under warranty. I don't know how pronounced your clunk is but mine started off fairly moderate and deteriorated to a loud thump when changing gear at motorway speed.
 
Yes mine is fairly pronouced at motorway speeds.

New gearbox wouldn't be good with only 20k miles on the clock
 
Did yours clunk purely changing at high speed in high gears.

Surprised I don't hear anything in lower gears.

I wonder if my BMW will cover it?
