High frequency Tweeters

Hi guys,

Has anyone ever replaced the HF tweeters that are set in the mirror triangle panel.
They are the 26mm 25watt speakers.

my passenger side speaker is crackling quite badly. I'm not sure whether water has got to it, it's blown, or has a bad connection.

I just wanted to know whether anyone had dabbled with these speakers - replaced or repaired. or just had problems in general.

I have the standard 6 speaker system. :(

If you do want to remove them there very easy as the cover just pops off and theres a cable connector to unplug them. There held in with glue so shouldnt be to much hassle to replace but BMW only supply the whole unit. They popup on ebay quite often though. I have a spare if you need one as i was looking at replacing them but in the end i put my tweeters in the door where the 4" mids would go on the 10 speaker system.

Yep thats how there done!!

I have re placed mine, im sure i still have the old ones if you need them, just let me know.
