Anyone got advice on where to look I've been on PH and autotrader, looking for an 04, 3.0 with around 30k or under mileage wise with a few toys

Got mine from a dealer about 17 months ago...

I got mine from a BMW dealer ... I looked for ages on the internet ... eventually found mine in the 'coming soon' part of BMW's used car locater.
I probabley paid a little more than I could have from a private sale ... but it came with 12 months warranty so I know any problems will be sorted out.
