Hesitation in 3rd / 4th gear today

Driving home today and was feeling some hesitaion in 3rd / 4th gear Anyone got any ideas?
Looks like i'll be taking it to my local indy specialist again soon.

Possibly the VANOS starting to fail?

I've no experience of this but it seems to be a very common issue. Hopefully you can sort it out with minimal expense.

Doubt it's Vanos as that is engine-rev dependent and would happen at similar revs in any gear.
Could be MAF meter. I have experience of one doing just this on another marque and it was most obvious with the car doing steady-ish or slowly increasing revs in gears 3/4/5. Could be a myriad of other things, too. Cam position sensor comes immediately to mind. An ECU-download is your best source of info, I'm afraid. Good luck.
