Took a trip back there today as they've opened the new building that houses their reserve cars. Great place and a real lesson in British car history and some beautiful motors there (and some shockers, such as an SD1 estate concept!!)

Well worth a visit if you love cars and car history and the new building offers almost twice as many to see.

Was also a chance to stretch the Zed legs properly for the first time this year - man I love driving that car!!

That sounds good actually, how did it compare to say, Beaulieu (if you've been there, that is ...)

Been to Beaulieu - it's smaller, focused just on British motor history, but less commercial and doesn't have the things like top gear world and the monorail. It's a must for car lovers though.

Ive been twice and enjoyed it although to be honest miles behind the Big European Museums.

If you are thinking of going this year - you could go the weekend if the bmwccgb event... Found on their website

The BMW Car Club Ltd GB will once again host the National Festival in 2016. We would like to invite you along to this year’s event at the British Motor Museum on the 14th August 2016
2016 will see BMW celebrating one hundred years of BMW. 1916-2016. As the Official BMW Car Club GB we already have some great ideas for next year celebrations. Last year we saw record number of 2817 attendees and over 800 cars on display, we are determined to see double this figure at 2016 Centenary Celebration at the National Festival.

We went to last years BMW day, good day out when you include the museum, the one thing that pi55ed me off, was parking about 1/4 mile away and having to walk to the event and back. Not that it's a vast walk, but when you have been on your feet all day, it does annoy some what. Then you walk past a huge car park that's nearly empty and set aside for disabled drivers?

I see the entrance to the museum has now changed with the new road layout, so hopefully it will be easier to attend/park. Last year we didn't get to know about it in time but this year I hope to display my car there :)
