Help! Z4M Coupe or Z4 3.0 Coupe?

Alan, horses for courses as they say. The fact that you speced 'dark birch trim' speaks volumes.

I don't think it is a question of cost really, but more of characteristics of the cars...

The 3.0si is a car that is built to satisfy the general market: It is fast, easy to drive, has a good soundtrack, handles perfectly fine, is exploitable and other than the runflats has no bad points really. It is a cracking car. But as I said before, it follows what most people want, which is a sanitized, easily exploitable safe car.

The M version seems to be made with less compromises. It harder, more difficult to drive, more difficult to exploit and needs some work from the driver. You need to be coming back for more and trying a bit harder. It does have more power and does have a louder, less civilized sountrack and does feel special.

As Shunt said, horses for courses. When I had driven the 3.0si I loved it and placed an order for one. When I drove the M I liked it and because it is a car for play only (I don't drive it for work) it made sense for me. I'm happy with my choice, but I'm sure I would've been happy with the 3.0si as well (as soon as I got rid of the runflats).

The ///M is £31k? If so you won't go too far wrong, the spec is good. It's worth the extra if you can afford it

Yeah, its basically £3k more for the M than a 3.0 with a lower spec...as long as the worst of the depreciation is over I think it'll be fine....cars depreciate no matter what you buy so no point worrying about it - enjoy the car. I just don't want to lose £15k a year LOL
Just been having a quick scan at AUC cars, if anything the coupe prices seem to have firmed up a bit over the last few months, you'll be fine at that price although still scope for a few quid discount I would have thought. The Z4M roadster I wanted to do a deal on is still available too, and they've knocked £3k off it since I tried to do a deal with them for more than it's priced at now, the muppets! Never mind.

So when are you doing the deal?

Looks like I might not be...car had its 1200 service at 2400! Thats a no no on the M3s as it can be hassle so I am assuming its the same with these, have decided to look for another car...the search continues but based on the above I think it will be an M

:)

Not good then. How do people manage to miss the service

I thought I was bad enough and I missed it by 100 miles... And before anybody asks it was because of the dates the various dealerships close to were I live had available when I tried to book (1 week in advance).

I'm curious why can an motor oil + filter, and ?transmission? oil change that was missed by 1000 miles make such a big no no ??

Color there will be other people on here that know better than me, but the warranty is voided on the engine if the service is done too late.
When I was looking for an ///M, the dealer told me that if their used car buyer picked up an ///M and it had missed the first service they would be :punish:

I know about that part, but there is an if to it. The service is only voided if there is irrefutable proof that the engine damage is a direct result of this missed first service. So it's not an all-out engine warranty void.

I think they would be far fetched to blame it on an oil change missed by 1000 miles, but of course if there are other opportunities on the market it's safer to go with one that had all services on time.

General consensus seems to be it does not really matter and is unlikely to cause an issue....it's more the hassle come resale that bothers me. Some dealers won't take it or will offer alot less, privately people who have been reading forums will walk away....its just easier to find one thats been done correctly
