HELP!! - trying to remove old expansion tank - stuck

trying to remove expansion tank as it's foobar.
top hose and middle hose removed, coolant drained.
big clip thing pulled off bottom of tank.

apparently all I need to do now is pull the tank upwards, but it's not coming.

I looked at removing the carrier too, but I cannot undo the top side screw, as there's not enough space to get my torx driver in to remove (stupid design!)

HAVE to get this done tonight....

solved... needed to employ a BFH for some percussive maintenance.

pretty much hit me square on the chin when it came out too... tit.

I think mine is it's way out! There are guides on you tube but it's done now so never mind!!

I did look, but wasn't entirely convinced the e46 guides were the same for the zed... and couldn't find a zed one

You should of asked i would of helped as i have replaced mine.

I have some spare O-rings for them and a complete tank spare if you are interested?

When I did mine the chap at the dealers advised me to order a mounting plate too as their own techs often damage them when removing tanks. They said they would refund me if I didn't use it but they were right my tank was stuck solid and I had to damage the old mounting plate to get it out.

If you've managed without damaging it you have done well!

If you've managed without damaging it you have done well!

nope.. I broke the mounting plate at the point where the inaccessible screw lives. Bit of cold weld fixed that right enough tho

Changed mine from the top and managed to get to the screw in question!!!!
