Check out Royal steering wheels Connor, they do brilliant refurbs which a lot of members on here have had. You can also change the trim around your wheel buttons too. No need to ditch your wheel.

Hope that helps a bit.

There are always a few on eBay, but usually not great condition. Theres a few at the moment - big asks for good condition ones though :(

I was about to go the Royal Wheel route, they are very highly regarded and the prices are very reasonable. Only inconvenience is being stranded without a steering wheel for about 2 weeks (turn-around time).

In the end I decided to upgrade from my non-M steering wheel to an M one, and just ordered a brand new one from here: http://www.salesafter.eu/index.php?cat=c171_Interieur-Interieur-171.html

389 euro for the non multi-function one (which I prefer, as it fits the simple style of the Z4) or 479 euro for the multi-function one.

I assume the airbag can be reused, regardless of whether it came from an SE or M?

Royals will post you out a steering wheel before you send yours off - they just require a deposit & return it on receipt of your wheel.

Yes, Airbag is transferable.

Thanks, had thought about the replacement steering wheel, but being in Belgium the shipping adds up quickly, and I can recover some (if little) of the cost by selling my current steering wheel, making a brand new M steering wheel about 100 € more expensive than the Royals route.

Am i reading this right - so I can buy a brand new M Sport steering wheel (without multifunction buttons) for only £340 including tax and shipping cost? :o

Does look like it, makes all those ridiculously overpriced worn ones on ebay an non starter does it. Always amazes me how many used parts for the E85/6 are much more expensive the the equivalent part for a E89.
Reading some early posts on M Sport Steering wheels it seems BMW were selling these new for sub £300 about 5 years ago and then hiked the price by £200 or so overnight!

Totally agree regarding overpriced worn ones on ebay. I never considered buying new assuming they would be around £500. Thanks OP

Thinking of trying one Marlon instead of the Royals one? I have to admit I'm tempted to try one instead of my Royals jobbie.

I think Royals do a great refurb and the wheel comes back looking brand new, but having had an M Sport Wheel on my previous Zed I do miss that specific feel the M sport wheel gives :driving:
So, yes Mack I am tempted

That extra girth makes all the difference! :poke:

I never really noticed this before, but the link above shows a different wheel for the M Cars over the M Sport models. Is this just the coloured stitching or is there leather nicer on the proper M wheel, a bit like the M seats over the M Sport ones. Can someone please confirm this one way or the other.

Real OEM has the M wheel (MFSW) priced at huge $1,268 (£1,000) and the M Sport MFSW at a bit more reasonable $568 (£449). For that sort of price differential it better have nicer leather! Past experience has also taught me that whatever RealOEM lists in $ you might as well take as £ making my conversion above a bit pointless! :x . Obviously you might get a deal from Sophers etc bringing it down a little.

It does make this site look cracking value for a proper M Wheel at £460 and not bad on a M Sport MFSW at £400. Really quite tempted, this bloody forum, keeps costing me a fortune!

I ordered mine this morning, and was given a DHL tracking number 1 hour later.

The vendor is a German BMW dealer, http://bmw-partner.bmw.de/autohaus-herrnleben-bayreuth/de_DE/uebersicht.html who also advertises on ebay.de but at higher prices.

You should add shipping (in my case 11 € for Belgium) and 1.7 % if paying by PayPal, so mine came to 408 € all included.

Bargain - thanks for letting us know

Only difference is the stitching. Both the m sport & ///M wheel are trimmed in soft nappa

Thanks for clearing that up, so they are the same Nappa Leather. Astonishing really, how the hell can BMW justify that?! At the end of the day stitching is stitching no matter what colour thread they are using. Ok a bit of a price hike for limited production and changing the thread on the needle maybe. But more than twice the price! WTF! :x
