HELP! Seat problem....

The passenger seat, electric - the backrest has stopped moving using the electric controls. You can hear the motor turn but nothing happens. All other functions on the seat work fine.

My mechanic has stripped the seat apart, and inside the motor there are two plastic circular pieces with 'teeth' - that are badly worn off, hence the seat not moving.

I need to order this part to replace, but we can't find it listed anywhere - anyone have any idea???

Ah HPC Gears make the cogs custom.... Any idea of the exact sizes / where I can find this out?

Or am I safer ordering the whole unit from BMW or the likes? If so - any ideas what the part number is?

They make gears. I suspect the gear is of a standard size. You will have to measure the damaged part. Then find the same part. I have no idea of the size or part number?!? I have never had a seat apart.

I have a Sapir seat if you can't get the part I guess I could strip it. But I am in no hurry to strip a seat!!

Yep get the garage to measure the bits and call HPC as you have it apart the hard work is done.
You just need the new gears and reassemble simple? Am I missing something???

Also part number identified thanks to BMW - 52 10 7 111 877

£240 - so pricey as hell for what it is. (just in case anyone else with this issue is reading this)

Interesting and wow.

Good excuse for me to buy some star wars lego?

Update....

Found part 52107111877 on ebay. £15 quid, correct description and part number listed, picture of the underside of an E46 seat with part 52107111877 visible.... however part 52107112678 circled. *sighs*

For 15 quid I've bought it and emailed the seller to confirm if it's the part in the title / description or the part circled in the picture :p
