Hi

I'm thinking of fitting cruise control myself to my manual 2005 Z4 3.0.

Is there anyone local to me that has done this and is willing to help me ?

I live near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.

Cheers

Rob

If your Zed is pre-facelift it's plug & play. The stalk is about £70. You don't need the steering shroud as the section to cut out is clearly marked on the inside. A sharp Stanley knife & a fine hacksaw blade will get through ok.

Post facelift cars need aan additional wire iirc. Do a search on this section to check.

Once connected it just works - no set up or coding needed. The beauty of a fly-by-wire throttle I guess.

You will need to take the lower cowl off and check if you have the loom or not - if it was built mid to late 2005 then it may have been left off as the manufacturing change over to facelift took effect. Not sure as mine is a Feb 2006 facelift, but I do recall seeing something somewhere about the loom only being present up to 2004 :?

Could be totally wrong, but it's not a hard thing to check

Thanks guys.
I had read the how to's but I was worried id cut the wrong wires.
My local bmw indie is going to install it for me.

Thanks

Coolio - sorry, I would've offered to help but you're a bit of a trek from me

No wire cutting is necessary (at least on pre-facelifts) - it just plugs into the available socket on the steering column.

Post facelifts - not 100% sure but I thought the extra wire was just an extension to the socket on the wiring loom behind the dash?

Mines a 2005 so I would need to cut into the headlight switch loom and run a wire to the dme in the engine bay.
