Help - car will not start

Can confirm it's the S3 008

Just a caution Im sure I read elsewhere that when replacing the battery there needs to be some ecu reconfig to work with the new battery?
Absolutely bonkers to me, it might only be on the newer (e89>) cars though

Edit: I've tried looking for the thread I'm thinking about and cant find it, so there is a 50% chance I'm spraffing pish  (It makes zero sense to me that something like that would be needed!)

I believe it is only the E89 that needs that. Something to do with telling the car it has a new battery as it adapts the charging cycle as the battery ages.
However, hopefully a more knowledgeable E85 owner will be able to confirm or deny this for you.

Found this link re: coding.
Think you'll be ok on your E85

Good find! I was worried about this myself but glad to read the E86/5 isnt effected by this!

I bought an Exide 70Ah AGM battery from Tayna in April for £107.97 delivered - well it would have been if the Hermes driver hadn't decided to claim I was out when I definitely wasn't!

E86/86s definitely don't need coding. Although I did have to visit Ross at RBM with mine to get the trifecta of warning lights extinguished.

Just to close this post. Battery arrived yesterday from Tanya. Only 80 pounds incl delivery for the Boschs3 008. Fitted perfectly and car fired on turn of key. Many thanks for everyone's comments. A new one on my that battery can be fully charged but not have enough amps to turn starter. Incidentally no need for any recoding.

Should have added that old battery seems to be the original by the date stamp. 16 years on a battery is pretty good.

Glad you got it all sorted fairly easily.
Decent price for that battery and quick service too.
If that lasts the same amount of time as the old one then a fiver a year isn't too bad.

And for me, who spends a lot of time having a laugh on here, it was nice to be able to help out for a change.
