HELP! Can you help me with your amp?

Hi have a 2004 e85 3.0i. The sound from the stereo works randomly. I wanted to know whether it's the stereo or the amp. I scanned for errors and it seems to be saying it's the amp. What I would like to do is hopefully meet up with a fellow member. Swap the amps out and see if my stereo system works. That way I can narrow down the issue. I've already checked for loose connections etc and the mechanic has had a go too.

I am in the harrow/Watford area and happy to travel a bit as this is properly winding me up!

Is the amp swimming in water next to the battery?

Im guessing you have the 10 speaker Carver Set-Up.

No water bro. Bone dry. And I can see and evidence of flooding. I was thinking it might be to do with overheating because I noticed that in the summer it would work a lot less. As soon as the cold weather hit, it would work more often.
 
May an issue inside the Amp then.

I had issues with mine blowing tweeters all of the time and after lots of phoning around i was recommended the place below.

I phoned them up had a chat with them, then i sent the unit to them for testing and they found a few issues, they fixed the issues and futures proofed the amp and it was working fine until the day i said bye to the car.

Give them a call and see what they say :)
 
Mine (carver 10speaker) is prone to this, sometimes when I switch it on, the right channel and the subs don't work, off an on sorts it every time. Also, if I've been blasting out the tunes, especially in hot weather, then the subs will go off and back on again, which I put down to it getting too hot.

I've solved this by fitting 2 x 30mm 12v PC cooling fans to the finned heatsink area. I also opened the amp, and a couple of the spring clips securing the output IC's to the heatsink were loose, so tightened them up, as well as cleaning off the nasty thermal transfer pads and replacing with new.

It hasn't happened since.

Thanks mate. Will do. The thing I don't wanna go though us send it off to them and pay for a bunch of testing if there's no issue with it

Clever ! I took the amp out and took it apart to show my engineer mate. He couldn't see anything obviously wrong with it. But he told me to do some testing with freezer spray & hair dryer to see if cooling it helps. I went to do it. I plugged the bare board in and it didn't work. So just gave up and put it all back together. Doesn't work now. Going to see what happens when j start it up tomorrow morning now...:it has been working fairly well since it got cold so I'm finding it weird that it's not working now and it's quite cold.

mate I'm going to do the same. where did you tap into to get power to the fans?
