HELP ADVICE NEEDED ASAP

Hi People ,
Well the dreaded has happened ive got a puncture ! (im in a z4///M) on the rear tyre i stopped pumped the bmw supplied gunk into the tyre so there is no way the tyre is damaged on the tyre wall the tyre fitter is saying that he cant repair the tyre as i have pumped the gunk into the tyre and it eats/compromises the tyre strength so he cant plug it for me and i will have to buy a brand new tyre ! is this right ? it just seems a bit strange that bmw would supply something that once used renders your tyre useless

I have always wondered the same thing. I changed from RFT's ages ago and have some "gunk" in the boot. My guess is they are talking bollocks, but they would prefer to sell you a new tyre than spend time cleaning up the old one. Of course, I have nothing to back that up with, it's just a feeling. Hopefully someone with experience of this will be along shortly.
 
I think the tyre fitter just couldn't be bothered to clean the foam formed inside the tyre amd hole before it could be properly repaired. Or can the foam be removed from tyre?
 
They are indeed talking bollocks. The gunk can be cleaned out but of course it will take them time and effort. Why do that when they can make a quick profit out of selling you a new tyre? Eats the tyre my arse. Go to another tyre fitter.

is there any chemical that can dissolve it quickly? that would be perfect, surely someone's done this by now so would be worth a google, failing that call bmw emergency service ? they've even helped me with picking the right oil when ive been away from the car and wanted to check.
 
OK i asked BMW ! :( YES ITS TRUE THEY SAY IT IS A GET U HOME FIX AND THE TYRE MUST BE REPLACED ! I GUESS THEY HAVE SHARES IN ALL THE LEADING TYRE MANUFACTURERS ! GUTTED

Well thats exactly what it says on the Tyre-weld tin. And two tyre specialists (one that I know and trust) I asked said the same thing.

Only consolation if running, say, Falkens, is that you're junking a cheaper tyre than an RFT. :cry:
 
My local tyre fitters said they would repair but only if the gunk hasnt been in the tyre for long.

But as said cheaper than replacing a RFT
