HellShine - The Abyss

Well I've finally got around to claying and sealing the car...

Thanks to a forum member is bagged some HellShine The Abyss a while back and working in the shade today it finally went on the car.

Went on easy and because its not a wax there's no issue getting it on rubber or glass etc in fact it makes glass and rubber look fantastic too.

So the car is below all nicely sealed up with this now. The only negative, and I'm not sure if its because I used too much product or its the heat, but its left a greasy oil like look to the paint. You polish with a cloth and it looks good but seconds later this oily finish appears. Buffed the entire car three times now. No different.

So I'm leaving it under the assumption that the heat means its not setting correctly and perhaps overnight and a quick wash tomorrow will leave it looking fab.

At least that's that job done for another year...

Looks great Maniac

To be honest it's a little to hot today as I found out today. I went back to using the Abyss today and it was melting in the pot :( last time I used it I had trouble getting it out it was so hard. Very little goes along way. Anyway it required lots of buffing then I went over with project 32 QD which helped

No photos sorry mines all tucked up in the garage as I'm going :driving: tomorrow :D

holy crap thats not cheap i almost fell off my chair! damn good job tho.

i really like those wheels which ones are they?

It's not cheap stuff the Abyss, though its not expensive by any means compared to many products out there, though I paid half that as a forum member had some spare he was selling.

The wheels are 19" BMW Performance 313's. I was lucky enough to buy them at a significant discount some months ago from a dealer down south.

I should add that a quick once over with some Meguiars final touch detailer worked wonders to clear up the finish which I can only put down to the heat. Also, after my kind neighbour covered the car in dust from his skip last night, I ran the hose on the car and was awed by the hydrophobic properties of this stuff, you could almost hear the water running off in terror

Just an update for you on this 'properly worth the money' product. I washed and applied a second coat of it about two weeks ago, in a much thinner consistency which did solve the oily finish problem, looks like I put too much on the first time. So, here we are two weeks and several hundred miles later and I have to say, still well impressed. Beading is tremendous and it also has the effect of cleaning the paint, quite literally nothing sticks. My car, being black, usually looks dirty/dusty the day after the wash and here are two shots of the car yesterday after those two weeks and mileage; (btw that's not a scratch on the first shot, just a bit of grass after some gardening nearby)

Cheers Mr Slone... It's a fantastic product, sounds like I'm selling it but it really is that good.

Glad you like it. I switched to a wax at the beginning of the year but I'm back to using it again. As you say I'm sure my car stays cleaner for longer.
I use pretty much most of the Autobrite range and would recommend them. Tend to stock up around Christmas and Easter when they have some good discounts on.

Definitely happy with the purchase!

I came across the product advertised the other week on a site and wondered how good it actually was considering it's £60 price tag for a wee jar. The pictures of your shiny zed I think says it all

I think I will be treating myself to a jar ONCE I have saved up!

As I said there are some savings around Christmas but they have realeased it now in a spray form which is around half the price and should be easier to apply
