Newbie here ,
Long term Porsche owner looking for a change !
Having owned most make and model of cars over 4 decades somehow I’ve managed to let the BM’s slip the net ... so now is a good a time as any to start ,
And I’ve decided on aZ4 coupe , big rear wheel drive fan so in at the deep end I’m thinking?
Have read many good thing about the straight 6 but I am undecided on the gears ... always been a manual man ,old school , but I’m currently running a minivan with bmw engine and auto box and must say I love it !
Might be an age thing but blimey how easy it makes driving ... so any advice would be welcome . I do like spirited driving however so at the mo’ I’m 70/30 in favour of manual , would the box put anyone of buying if the car was the right spec and condition etc ?
So in summary any advice will be gladly welcomed and also if there are any cars for sale under @10k with sensible mileage known to anyone then please feel free to get in touch . Text only please initially 07976932417
Many thanks
Steve .

Id say the Si coupe in auto form is a gem , had 3 of them & whilst i am a manual fan in the roadster in the coupe somehow i felt it was "right" & actually suited the car better but others may disagree .
The actual box themselves are robust , rarely cause issues & work very well , slipped into sportmode press down hard from the off they will surprise you
Lots of cars around but ultimately they are 12/13 years old now with 4-5-6 or more owners & many with a chequered service book so treat each one on its own merits as opposed to assuming the low milers are the better cars
Good luck hunting

Have you thought about an SMG gearbox? halfway between a manual and an auto.

I've got a roadster for sale for £2400 but you said you were after a coupe :(

Welcome to the light side. Good time of year for picking up sports cars. Hopefully not too long and you will have your first BMW.

Any pictures of your old steed. :)

Hi and welcome aboard.

Coupe is a great choice - but then I would say that.

I've only had manual ones as I think it suits the straight 6 naturally-aspirated RWD analogue feel, but I've never tried an Auto so you really need to go with your own feeling on that.

And decide whether you want an SE or a Sport - the latter is generally more popular because it has the M-Sport seats, although some SEs had them as an option.

Also the standard spec is pretty mean, so if there are any "must-have" features bear in mind when you are searching that Bi-Xenons, parking sensors, heated seats, cruise control, Multi-Function Steering Wheel and power-fold mirrors were all on the options list.

Happy hunting.

Welcome along, with 10k in your back pocket its well worth keeping an eye on the forum's Market place, if you're in no rush cherished coupes pop up there from time to time. I've recently gone in the opposite direction

Thanks one and all ...
going to keep an open mind on the box , try one of each .. I think the only really must have is the m seats
The most comfortable I’ve sat in in ages .. I’ll keep up to date with viewings and progress .. will load pork pics if I can figure out how to do it 🤔

id go for the roadster over the coupe any day. you just cant beat how it feels to drive with the roof down

Just a thought, but if you give an indication of where you are you might find someone on here who'll let you try one!

And now you have made 3 posts you can use the Private message facility on here - it's up towards the top right of the screen.

Take no notice of z4dan, he's just sorry he didn't get the best looking model Z4.
