Hello everyone.

After lurking for several weeks following the purchase of my 57-plate Z4C 3.0Si Sport, I've finally bitten the bullet and here's my first post. I've never posted on a forum before, but I've been reading this one since before I bought the car in March and it's certainly THE BEST one I've every come across for any of the car's I've owned. So hopefully that's the last of me skulking in the shadows and I shall become an 'active participant'!

I know that :worthless: so without further ado...

I bought the car from from an indie garage, with 41k on the clock and FBMWSH. My previous car was a 59-plate Mazda 6 2.2D 185 Sport, which some people in the motoring press say is actually quite sporty but having come from a 300bhp Impreza with Prodrive pack it certainly wasn't sporty in my book! I had the 6 for 15 months from new but it wasn't my scene and the Mrs and I didn't need the space. Plus I'm used used to having sporty cars not diesels, so I came to the conclusion that a sound buy would be a Z4C. I didn't consider the Roadster as I adore lines of the rear 3/4 of the Coupe (hence the last photo). The bodywork is Montego Blue and the interior has the brushed aluminium trim and black Oregon leather. Options include xenons, CD changer, Bluetooth prep, MFSW, heated seats, rear PDC and probably a couple of things I don't know about! The car's description in the showroom didn't list the options (I'm not sure the dealer knew exactly what they were dealing with, given the fact the bulk of their stock is 'hum-drum' stuff), so I got her for what I considered to be a bargain price. I was pleasantly surprised when I started discovering the options the car's kitted out with :D. BTW, is there a way of obtaining a spec-sheet for her from BMW?

The pics are the first ones I've taken of the Zed since I got her and were taken at our local country park. I hope to be able to take some more soon in some other locations as we go on our travels. Minor mods wise I want to get a stubby sooner rather than later, and I'm umming and ahhing over changing to non-RFT as the roads round where we live are :o . Main thing stopping me is the fact that all four tyres were practically new when I bought her, and I'm thinking of getting some winter tyres later in the year too. As far as anything else goes, until I get bored, it's staying as it is. Famous last words!

So far I'm chuffed to bits with it. So glad I didn't go for the Boxster I test drove - they're two-a-penny round here. I've only ever see one other Z4C round here, a nice silver 3.0SE. I wonder if the owner's on this forum?

Anyway, enough ramblings for my first post.

excellent choice, nice colour

with regards to tyres, personally i would leave them until they need replacing

the stubby, that should be on order by now :poke:

Hi and welcome - great car - and I know exactly what you mean about the Coupe. I never considered a Roadster either.

As for the runflats, when I bought mine it had 2 new runflats on the rear and about 5mm of tread on the front. I was thinking of waiting till I needed new tyres but in the end bought Vredesteins and sold the funflats separately. Best decision I made as normal tyres transform the car completely. Why wait, there are always people wanting to buy runflats either on here or eBay.

Thanks everyone for your welcome messages and comments. Blue (of any variety) wasn't my first colour choice actually but now I've got it, I love it. Only trouble is that I've picked up so many scratches over the couple of months. People are so clumsy round here but then I do live in pensioner territory!

Half Colin - you've got a fair point there, just need to convince the missus it's a good idea!

Taz - I am ashamed the stubby is not already on order! I'll make that right this weekend. I don't listen to much radio (prefer to listen to that glorious 3.0 engine) so not too bothered about reception. Plus if I go on a long journey where I want to radio, I can always swap it over I guess.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome. You are a friendly bunch.

Very much enjoying Z4 ownership. Noticed that other Z4 drivers don't volunteer a wave though, which is something I've been used to in my other performance cars. They can't be Z4-forum members I guess!

Going to be posting shortly on the 'Z4 and pets' picture thread. Amazing how you can get a 30kg gundog in the back of a Z4C!

Hi... And welcome.... I also love that colour in coupe form.... Looks a lovely example.

IMO changing to non rft makes a massive difference..... But bear in mind a few tyre places won't do that... And you have to notify your insurance. When I bought my car it had virtually new tyres... So changed the wheels and will swap them back with the rft when I sell.

Looks like your front fogs need demisting too.

You're right there aquazi, well spotted. They've sorted themselves out since the photos were taken, although I believe if I keep the fogs on for a while that should alleviate the problem as well, shouldn't it?

Great looking car ! Enjoy ! Bin the RFT"s ! I sold mine fitted falken 452's car is now fantastic !
