Hello & Thinking of a Z4M

Hi Chaps, new to the forum.

Thought I would say hello in here as I am very tempted by an Z4M. The only thing that concerns me is what I am moving from.

I currently have a Lad Rover Defender, but I am considering a change after having it for 3 years. I am 26 and crave a bit of a faster car for a while. I love my Landy and wish I could keep both, but I can't. I will be looking over the forum for the next few months. I firstly need to Sell my Landy if I decide to go forward with a Z4M and also need to sell my boat as I don't think Z4s are known for their towing ability.

I need to run a few figures as well, but can't see them being much more than running a defender. (Someone might of ha a different experience) Anyway anything anyone thinks might be useful please let me know.

I am sure I will be back with questions soon.

Oh and I think I want a roadster, but my mates say 3.0l coupe over an M. I just think I wish I would have got an M everytime I saw one.

Also if anyone has an M in the Hampshire are and wouldn't mind takin me for a spin, or at least showing me around a good car, I would really appreciate it. Obviously supply beer tickets etc. I live in the New Forrest.

Thanks

hmmm difficult one as i LOVE defenders, they are insanely cool. But too loose 2 toys for one thats you most likely going to love for a little then wish you'd kept you landy and boat???? hmm not to sure, just giving you my honest opinion, i think id look for a car that was fun but still allowed to me keep the boat ect ect...... then again i saw a guy on the USA forum that hooked up a detachable tow hitch to his z4m and was pulling al sorts.......

welcome to the forum anyway.

Am over between Southampton and Portsmouth, your more than welcome to nip over. M coupe though!!

Tapatalking on my iPhone.......

i'd be inclined to agree with this, as good as the Z's are (& they are exceptionally good), i'd struggle to give up two toys to run one though.

in fact i'm considering selling mine to get my "old" toy back off it's new owner ;)

Well this is part of the problem, but I have been thinking about it for best part of a year. I almost feel like the Z4 is an itch I need to scratch.

The problem with toys is that they are only good if you use them. I am struggling to use the boat due to work commitments and poor UK weather. When it's good, I'm working, when it's poor I am not and it's frustrating. I only used it 4 times last year and think I would get more out of a Z. I guess I can always get another boat.

I have more feeling towards the Landy, but I guess I could get another, in a few years time. It's a hard decision to make. I think I need to have a good look over some and see how I feel.

Thanks for the offers chaps, I will be in contact about that.

There's a forum member just put their sweet ///M Coupe for sale - could be worth a look.

However I'm biased. I got my ///M roadster in February and now hope traffic lights change just before I get to them so I can nail it!

I have only just got my Z4M roadster, but they are an amazing car..

Last year i had a Z3M coupe which was a great little car..Should never have got rid...Mistake!!

Then bought a 2001 911 convertible.......Big mistake,it was horrible!!

So had a amix and bought a Z4M roadster....Absolutly love it,its a missile but can be driven daily..

What fun!!

Moor the boat at Ashlett and have both! I work (well I will just say NEAR) the New Forest but I have a 3.0si coupe. I manage 30 mpg with mixed driving. 34mpg if I try. Would be happy to take you for a quick spin if you would like?

Hey CornishRob & Welcome

I know a little bit about both  Grew up with an 1981 88' SWB 2.2 Petrol 'Gandalf' which taught me how to powerslide round fields (often with a chain-harrow in tow) into my early teens & we've had a few newer generation Defenders in the family since :D The last 2 including this one got stolen though  :wkr:

 :driving:

I kinda have an itch for a 90 now, but as cool as they are for the tesco trips, my 2nd car has to be be able to do long journeys & the thought of going to Glasgow and back in even the transit-engined one would make me shudder.

I posted something about boats too, but at a guess I'd say you were a raggie :poke:

Any chance of some pics of both? :D

Amazing so many proud owners on here are happy to let you have a look - problem is there'll be no going back once you do, the Z4M is an epic car

That is a totally odd collection-of-vehicles-in-a-field pic - I love it

Andysat's car hiding right at the very edge in the background (his kind of parking) would just finish it off :D

Can't really moor it up as its a Thundercat, so it lives on a trailer. To keep both would be nice, but as I said before, I just don't use it enough really.

Yes they are brilliant vehicles, but like you say doing long trips in them is a nightmare. I have a Td5, and it's not the best at long journeys. I hve also recently split up with my long girlfriend so will be doing a bit more travelling to see mates etc and want a bit of comfort. Also a change... I have done some great trips in it, the last being Le Mans a few weeks ago.

I will post a pic of the boat and truck up later.

Thanks again guys for all the offers and seems a really great forum.
