Hi,
I'm new to the site and new to posting on forums in general so please feel free to shout if I do something wrong!
I have been wanting a Z4 for a while and i'm finally in a position to look more seriously. I have found one for sale that suits my price range and matches the spec I am looking for. The problem is it has high mileage so I'm after your thoughts whether its worth my money or not.
The spec is as follows:
2003 Z4 3.0i (I Think SE) Silver
80,000 miles
Full BMW Service History (Serviced in the summer)
11 months MOT
6 months tax
BMW Professional Sat Nav
Parking Sensors
Upgraded Sound System
Electric Folding Mirrors
18" 108? Star Alloy Wheels
All usual other stuff (Xenons, Electric Heated Seats)
Its priced at £8,500ono
Thats pretty much all I know at the moment, I wont know much about condition until I see it
Thanks

Hi welcome to the forum

There are a few on here that have higher milage cars without any issues. It's a good price for the spec and colour... is it private or trade?

Just go through the usual checks and make sure you factor back in anything like tyre, next service, etc.

Have a look at forum FAQ on the General Discussion page (sticky) and see what the issues are for your car.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply :)

Its a private sale. I have emailed the seller for more info so will be able to decide then if its worth the trip to see it or not.

I will of course get an inspection carried out as Im no expert!

If it's been kept well, 80,000 is nothing of concern at all. Don't forget it's the same engine in the 330i and people regularly run those to 150,000 miles and more.

Azz - just a quick one, have you bought one yet? From my experience, I can tell you how I worked when looking to buy:
Now, this changed as the process advanced, as in at first, you think some things are really important, but then with time, you realise some things can be compromised.
Anyhow, let us know, if you're still looking, I'll post some tips.

Welcome to the forum - follow the link to a check list of things to look for when buying secondhand (sorry pre-owned....). Remember if in ANY doubt WALK AWAY and good luck.

Hi,
I didnt buy the car in the end. A few things didn't add up.. the MOT was apparantly done in May not November. When I spoke to the guy, he couldn't remember where it was serviced, when it was done etc so I didn't follow it up.
To be honest, in a way I'm glad as the boiler packed up three days before Christmas. So Ive had that replaced and booked a holiday instead! I'm still looking but will probably wait for a couple of months.

I feel like I'm cheating now, posting on here even though I haven't got a Zed.

Must say the forum has been a great help so far and has just confirms all the reasons why I want one (despite the recent snow)

High miles wont really be an issue for the engine. It will mean you have to pay attention to everything else, ie the suspension bushes/springs, wheel bearings, the roof motor and all the electrical bits n bobs.

Bad luck about the boiler, my freezer just packed up - i hate spending money on things like that :(
