Hi folks,
I'm joining the Z ranks as I part with my 120i M Sport Convertible in sapphire black for a deep sea blue sDrive 35is. Seems a bit if a change but my 120i has been my tamest car to date and when I got it they were still a rare car, however not now.
My first car when I was 17 was a BMW built Cooper S followed by a FN2 Type R that was my track toy, followed by a 135i vert for a small amount of time then the 120i.
I come from a family who've driven Bimmers for over 20 years and my parents have what I can only describe as a 'forecourt' fleet so I have a nice choice when I fancy a wee change. I've not broken the news to my Dad that I'm buying one of his favourite cars because he recommended that keep my 1 series. Thinking that's because he's thinking of buying one as his next toy to replace his 5 series. Oops!
I haven't actually driven a Z4 be it a E85 or the E89, I did have the chance to drive a sDrive23i recently but I passed up that offer because I didn't want to ruin the experience of my 35is. As I'm sure most are aware it's not a common car and to find one of them to drive at a dealer is impossible!
Pick it Saturday Morning and can't wait to get my private plate on it. Thank to the DVLA local office closures I can't get it off in time to get in on my new car. Something nobody explained to me until Monday! If I had known I would of had the plate off prior to my trade. Oh well it's a small inconvenience, but a good money spinner for the DVLA as you need to pay more to put a plate on retention than just swapping on to a new car and the insurance comps get to charge you for making a change to your policy.
I've not had a great experience in the past couple of years with the local BM garages so this one is being purchase via a dealer 100 miles away in Newcastle so I've got a great wee run home to Edinburgh. I'm excited!!!
