Hello from Missouri

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We like to see photos of new members cars on here so don't be surprised if you get asked to post some!

Be happy to post some pics. Might be a week or so before I can get a decent picture of it as I just pulled the GM5 module and sent out for repair. As soon as I get it back I'll get it out of the garage and post a few pics.

Finally getting a couple of pictures posted of my Z4. Sorry for the delay. Z4-F.jpg

Been chasing 1 problem after another since I got it and haven't really had much opportunity to drive it. The first brief trip I took it on after getting the GM5 module repaired and reinstalled, I got 3 warning lights on the dash along with a beep. From reading, it's the dreaded trifecta of TPMS, Brake and DSC. Purchased a Creator C310 and pulled codes and came up with 5D8F and 5E38. Everything I read seems to indicate a bad YAW sensor. Looking at the Transversal Acceleration and Rotating Speed with the car parked, I would expect to see zero but I'm seeing changing data. The graph of each makes it look significant but the actual data ranges from 0.2 to 0.7 degrees on Rotating Speed and -0.008 to -0.012 g on Transversal Acceleration. That seems close to zero but both are constantly bouncing in that range. The graph is very cyclical watching those two data streams. I need some expert opinions on this. Is that significant enough to condemn the YAW sensor or should I be looking elsewhere. I can post images and videos of the data streams of these if that helps. Let me know if I should be looking at something else. I can clear the codes and the lights go out, but as soon as the car starts to move, I get the beep and the 3 lights come back on. I would really appreciate some help confirming a diagnosis as I really don't want to spend money replacing good parts. Thanks in advance for everyone's time and experience to help me get my Z4 back on the road.

That's a great colour combo.

After I jump-started my Z4 when the battery died I got the dreaded trifecta. After fitting a new battery my Indy cleared them by resetting the Steering Angle Sensor. These electrical issues scare me!

I willing to try anything. A little history ... other than having the battery disconnected for about 5 days while waiting for the GM5 module to come back, I haven't had to do anything with the electrical system like jumping or charging. I checked the steering angle sensor on the Creator and ran it stop to stop and it seems to be responding normally. At zero when the steering wheel is centered straight ahead and going in 90-degree increments, the graph reflects the movement. I did have the front struts replaced and had it aligned by a dealer after getting new tires. That was about 6 weeks ago. Haven't had any other issues since then other than the door locks which the GM5 module repair took care of. If you think resetting the Steering Angle sensor is, a possibility, I'm willing to try it.

Given what you have done it doesn't sound like that is the problem, although it might be worth trying.

Yaw sensors do seem to be a common problem, especially if they get damp due to water ingress. They are under one of the seats, but on an LHD car I don't know which one. Might be worth a physical inspection anyway.

Hello Mark, welcome to the forum, nice looking car, I hope you get your problem with it sorted soon
