Hello!

I found this Forum a couple of weeks ago and just now got some time to say hello! I see some friends here from Z4UM and other Forums. I'm not a mechanic so I don't have a lot of DIY to post, except adding a Hardtop and mods. Mostly pictures from trips and our Grandson with his 3hp Z4.

Our cars are a 2005 Z4 3.0 6SP that I lease through my business (work, work, work!) and a 2006 Z4 M Roadster (European Muscle Car!). I really have enjoyed everything about the 3.0 and even have entered the dark side with a few "Black-out" mods and a Hardtop. I might buy it at end of lease. Extra low lease rates caused me to change our second car to a Z4M so I can have the ///M experience before I turn 60 (soon!). Am I having a mid-life crisis? Well, I have had 2 Z3s and 3 Z4s so I guess I am still in crisis and hanging on to mid-life!

Big news right now is getting ready for Homecoming. This will be our fourth in a row and can't wait to get on the road! We look forward to seeing our friends again! We have that week off but not sure of what day we leave and where we are touring before Thursday. We have been on the Dragon twice and want to do something different. Maybe join up with another group?

This is looks like an active and fun Forum!

Best!
Jack

Welcome!!

The little 'z' is awesome!

Might be useful in London. Probably congestion charge exempt, and keeps up with traffic!!

welcome....how do you like that hardtop???? I just ordered mine today and hope it works out well...any problems I should know about?

-(I will post these comments on your recent post in "General Z4 Discussion" also. Might help someone reading about your new top!)-

Congrats on your new Hardtop! I know you will post pics when it comes!

It's great! Like having a "complete" Z4. It's like having another car to drive! I put in on when several days of high heat or rain are predicted. Have not experienced cold but that is usually January thru March and not very. We still have many, many top down days.

I bought mine used and had it painted - looks and works good as new. Got 20% off on R & L post receivers and paid dealer $250 to install them as I did not have factory "Hardtop prep".

A few hints. from my experience -

The soft top is very quiet already so this is just a little quieter. I am told that most of the road noise you hear is transmitted through the tires and throught the window glass when up - this noise is not same as wind seapage noise. As you are buying from dealer, I suggest you road test for noise as it is up to them to make sure it fits right. That way they have to adjust posts till just right.

Also, my mechanic spent a little time getting post to make contact so defroster worked - it would be very easy for this to be missed. Make sure they get it right before you leave.

I enjoyed your posts at Z4UM and others! Nice to be back with familiar avitars!

Best!
Jack

Hey Jack!

Since you've got the gator as an avatar, I feel compelled...

Ever wonder why Florida grads love to display their diplomas in the front windows of their cars? (answer down below)

So they can park in the handicap spaces. See ya at homecoming.

Just hijacking the thread for a sec because I found this picture and wanted to ask Phil if it was him when he was a baby
