Can't believe this. I've owned my 54 plate 2.2i from new and have only just found this site. :o

Never mind, I'm here now and hope to enjoy chatting about the merits of the zed.

I've now done 35,000 miles in mine, it is nearly 4 years old, I had loads of trouble in the first year with it using mountains of oil, squeeking and rattling until I could stand it no longer, and bizarre electrical faults. For a while, whenever I turned the ignition off and pulled out the key, the passenger window would go down! Seems funny now, but at the time I was livid. It was all sorted under warranty, however the dealer began to take a dislike to me!

For the record, my zed is a 54 plate Titanium Silver 2.2 with black roof, Oregon Black Leather, M Sports Seats, CD Changer, Auto Wipers and Lights, Multi-Function steering wheel, electric folding mirrors and 5 spoke alloys. (I wish I'd ordered heated seats as in winter it is freezing!!

I will get some photos up as soon as I can. Im the meantime, can anyone recomend something to clean my alloys of really bedded in brake dust. I've been told they will need refurbishing as I didn't look after them, but I'm sure they aren't that bad and there must be some "industrial" product I can use.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Left...

Welcome to the forum.

From Cardiff I presume?

I'm sure some of our OCD detailers will come along soon with some advice on the alloys.

Thanks for the welcome. I am indeed from Cardiff. Born and bred. Thought my avatar might give it away :D

Looking forward to ploughing through all the other boards aswell. Might be adding to the dealer board soon. Some tales to tell from down here........

OK, I give up...what's a 54 plate??? :?

A car first registered between 1st September 2004 and 28th February 2005.

The 5 denotes the 1st Sept - 28th Feb bit and the 4 denotes 2004,

An 04 plate would designate that the car was first registered between 1st March and 31st August 2004... Geddit?

Welcome from the other side of the pond!

As for the break dust problem, I haven't got a clue, but I know that I have heard of some products that can do the job - so they are out there somewhere.

Welcome from another Cardiff inhabitant :D

Great car, lovely colour

Not seen you around!!! I do love the look of the coupe but wonder if I'd miss the roof down on those odd days you can do it.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

I really do need to do something to mine, as it never comes up as clean as I'd like it to and seeing the pictures you are all posting is making me envious. Also, I have almost decided now to change the wheels to 4x 18" Evo 2 alloys, (225/40/18) and getting rid of the run'flats.

Think this will make a massive difference and make the car look more purposeful. I am happy with the performance, it's just the wheels that have let it down for me now.

I will try to get some before pics up this weekend, I will do the "after" pics as soon as I have convinced myself I should spend the money.......
