Hello from a soon to be new owner

Morning all
I will soon be purchasing a Z4,coming from an Elise and want a more useable car that hopefully will calm my trackday urge!
I think I have decided on 2.5 engine will be an 03/04 car, but have been searching for more info and there seems to be 3 models of the 2.5 the 2.5, se and sei. Can anyone tell me the differences there is between these models? and which would be the model to have? the se seems to have less power than the 2 other models is this correct or are my findings not?

Welcome to the forum.

I agree .... Why not a 3.0. Very little in it regarding running costs with the added benefit of better spec and more smiles when depressing the accellerator.

I did exactly the same thing as you and my Elise 111S is still in the garage waiting to be sold. I love the Elise and will be sorry to see it go but I wanted a car that was more usable more of the time and I just love the shape of the Coupe. I would say drive both the 2.5 and 3 as coming from an Elise you might be disappointed with the 2.5.

Hi and welcome

An 03/04 car ther is only one 2.5i BMW added or removed the SE designation at some point but the cars are the same spec. No such thing ans an 2.5sei, it would just be a 2.5i se

Had settled on the 2.5 because I had read on here that there wasnt that much in the two, maybe I have not read enough? the insurance is £100 more on the 3.0. and petrols not getting any cheaper :( Have only tested a 3.0 up to now and really did like the engine. the 2.5 probably seemed a good compromise.
I will test one myself and then I will know.
I'm not in a rush and want to buy the best car I can so feel free to persuade me!
with regard to spec all I know is the 3.0 comes with the sport suspension what else spec wise does it have over the 2.5?

Half Colin I have seen you somewhere before seloc or mloc? (sp azure s1 or s1 steve) would love a coupe but not possible at the minute. Had a std S1 and to be honest on track I was ready for more power and as we all know power can get expensive lol

What I do know at the minute is I want the car to be silver and I love the 18" ellipsoid wheels

Yeah, I'm on both but didn't hang around seloc that much - bit intense for my liking. Did you go to the MLOC airfield photo?

Yes I did go thats a while ago now there was a good turn out. made some great friends from Mloc.

Mine was the yellow S2 top right of the M - where were you?

Think I was pretty close to you sure I might have been on the left of the M will have a look on the picture. Blue S1

Also it might be the 3.0l now might have found the one :)
