HEATING PROBLEM. Help...

Hello, to everyone. I own a Z4 of 2004 with the automatic climate. For the past 3 weeks the heating is not comming out...or to be more precise..it does but just a little bit..hence, not too hot. I went to the bmw and they said that it is the climate controls problem (the electronis begind the controls) does anyone now about that ???
 
This sounds like one of those "known" snafus as there is a serive bulletin... Here's a tidbit found in Bimmer Magazine. It may be just what your talking about. Hope this helps. :)

...the Z4 seems to suffer a problem with the climate control system in which No Heat is Produced during cold-weather operation except on the highest setting. This is covered by BMW Service Info Bulletin 64 07 05, and the fix involves recoding or replacing the IHKA control module.

That is about it...but mine does not even work on the high setting. Does anyone has any idea about the electronics on that control ??
 
Is your cooling system ok?
And what I mean is that: if there is a leak at the cooling system and you loose cooland, the first think noticable is the 'no heat' coming out.

Secondly you can check the sensor that controls (on/off) the pump which sends the hot cooland to the climate pipes so to produce the hot air.
 
At bmw had told be that it is the controls fault and that the cost is at about 800 euros. The A/C works just fine though. However, how can i check the the sensor of the pump ?? Is there any other way to check the electronics on the controls ?? 8)
 
You can double-check it to a different dealer-shop's diagnosis-tester.

A/C works fine in warm ??

Its first time I listen of such a fault (climate controls...) to a Z4 in Greece.

The pump sensor either switches it on or off, as you turn the control switch to warm (red) or cold (blue) .
Its position differs by the model (2.0, 2.2, 2.5....)
What model Z4 do you have?

Are you in Athens?
 
YES I AM IN ATHNES. IT IS THE 2.2. SOMETHING ELSE THAT JUST NOTICED TODAY, IS THAT THE AIR COMES OUT WARM (NOT HOT) AT THE DRIVERS SIDE BUT COLD AT THE PASSENGERS SIDE. NO THE WARM DOES NOT WORK WITH THE A/C ON. koNAS... ΜΠΟΡΕΙΣ ΝΑ ΒΟΗΘΉΣΕΙΣ ??
 
Its rather difficult to identify such a problem from here.

They told you the control...how did they found out?

I really would suggest to check for a second opinion to another bmw shop.

Which one do you use?
 
i had the same problem but they said it was due to the temp gauge was stuck at the open position? will find out and post again
