Heating/AC Problem, a bit weird.

I've noticed tonight that with the air-con and the air direction switched to the windscreen (orange illumination on the button) it blasts out hot air and doesn't get any colder. Even with the heater switched right down to cold it still blasts hot air through the windscreen setting.

When the air direction is in either of the other 3 positions the air-con works fine as does the heating.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I've never noticed it before, surely it can't be right? It blasts hot air as soon as you press it and there's no temp control on it.
 
Hmm I'm wondering if I'm loosing the plot! Just looked through the owners handbook and it says that this button is for defrosting and demisting, which would explain heat.

Spoke to my old man and he says his 1 Series does exactly the same and that's what it's supposed to do.

Surely that's right, doesn't pressing that over ride the manual setting so it clears the screen with the optimal settings or am I missing the point. :) :thumbsup:
 
That button is the front windscreen demister button.. designed to just go max-chat on the windscreen and nothing else, so yes - it's designed to be used temporarily when you get misted up!
 
If you press it then it will go full pelt. the fan speed control in the middle will slow it down while still directing heat and the window but the heat control does nothing. mine is exactly the same. I switch it on and then slow the fan down. Stops it misting up as you are driving.
 
It's an awesome feature. The only problem with it is that it stops you using the proper method for defrosting the windscreen, which is ROOF = OFF. :)
