Heater setting when first entering car

I seem to have set it so when first entering the car my heater turns on at number 1 with airflow to all 3 areas.

I don't know how I did this but was wondering if I can alter it?

Does anyone know how to do this? (I know I could read the manual but it's pretty big and lifes short) 8)

Also has anyone used the google maps "send to" feature for the nav? Pretty awsome. I just wish they would make it work with android goole maps now.

Im unsure how my heating setting work as well.

Mine is set to auto, but the fan speed always sits in the middle of the 5 LED's. Should this led move about or is it just how it works?

You did get a manual with the car right? RTFM! Lol :P

I think the climate control in the E89 is a bit pants, you can alter the amount of climate control (BMW words not mine) when in auto mode by increasing the fan speed button. There is also the ability to control the temperature of the middle face vents as well.

All I want in climate control is to be able to set the temperature and let the car figure how best to do it, not arse around increasing or decreasing the fan to make it more comfortable :poke:

It's like having a dog and barking yourself.......

Probably a very silly question but.... if my g/f has the heater setting on high on the passenger side and I have mine on low on the driver's side is it in effect trying to cancel itself out and therefore becomes inefficient - a bit like having the windows open in an airconditioned office? If the g/f isn't in the car I usually turn both heater knobs to the same temp setting...

Just wait until you two get married and live in the same house. :headbang:

Yes, what sars is talking about is the intensity of the climate control!

I agree, it's not outstanding and you can adjust the face vents manually (fine tune it).

Have to say I'm very impressed with th A1's climate control. It really is "set and forget".

Well I must be the only one who loves the auto mode... The only thing I ever change is the speed of the fans either to feel the breeze or to make the cabin quiet... I continue to be amazed at how it knows when the screen is fogging for example, as when it does, you hear the vents change, it clears the screen, before pushing air back to the cabin again... how the hell does it know that?!? Bloody marvellous..

Yes, you can.

When you use a remote key to unlock the car, the car sets many things to whatever they were set the last time that key was used.

Many items can be set. See Personal Profile in the manual. Page 20 in the US owner's manual.

BMW's have had this feature for years. Many owners never realize they have it or understand how it works.

Tried it again today. It does seem to remeber the last setting it was on. I am not sure if you have to use the setting for a while for it be remembered.

I relation to the query above pressing auto I had it set to fan speed 1. I could hear and feel the fans altering though. Does it just stay on what it was set on? I had to turn air con off also as it switched it on.
