Heated seat temp sensor..

Evening all,

My drivers heated seat is no longer working and have diagnosed it to be the heated seat temperature sensor.
Does anyone know if the sensors are IN the seat, or UNDER the seat? Just trying to work out how big of a job it would be.. and if anyone knows the best place to find said sensor, that'd be appreciated!

Thanks!

I'd be surprised if there is a sensor, I'd imagine it to be just a network of resistors in the switch.

What leads you to think its a temp sensor?

The heated seat temperature feedback sensor is in the seat with the heating elements. It is a 10kOhm NTC thermistor. You can find these on ebay.

However, I'd be surprised if the sensor has actually failed. I'd be more inclined to suspect a broken wire to it. You could check continuity by checking the resistance across the thin wire in the heated seat wiring block under the seat and earth.
(N.B. disconnect the battery before removing the seat connector otherwise you'll get an airbag light)

Thanks both for advice - I had a friend plug Carly into the OBD and it said itโ€™s the temp sensor in the heated seat.

Not very hands on myself but will have a further look into this and perhaps ask one of my dealership clients to help out!

Thank you

To get at the squab heating elemant pad the seat needs to come out of the car and back rest removed from the frame. Then its a matter of stripping the squab cover off and peeling it off towards the front to get at the element pad, the resistor pack will be at the rear edge of the pad with the wiring from that to the underseat connector block. Its all held together in there with loads of hog rings.
